It looks like a beehive
\nMonks once did build
\nIn the 6th century
\nhow did they weild
\nTheir axes and shoulders
\nWith local stone they
\nStruggled up all those steps
\nOver the bay
\nAnd there stands the monastery
\nWith So much to climb
\nTo The edge of the world
\nAnd on beyond time<\/p>\n
An up on this crag
\nA sheer drop to the sea
\nTo have worked it the way that they did
\nAnd to be
\nSurrounded by Puffins
\nAnd Shearwaters too
\nSkellig Rock murmurs
\nThat everythings blue <\/p>\n
The sky and the sea
\nIts remarkably so
\nAnd down in my rowing boat
\nI want to know
\nHow those hives have resisted
\nThe storms and the rain
\nAnd the wind all those centuries
\nFeeling the strain<\/p>\n
The West coast of Ireland
\nAt its desolate best
\nWith the sea at its feet
\nThose twelve miles to test
\nThe vast endless void
\nAnd the sunsets that draw
\nAll those wonderful colours
