It was no phantom

\nIt was all organic
\nFor all to share
\nTeeming with fish
\nAnd mangroves too
\nProviding a paradise
\nGood and true<\/p>\n
The repugnance of man
\nHis hostile ways
\nDischarging his filth
\nFor the want of praise
\nInto the rivers
\nAnd just anywhere
\nA homegenous mess
\nOf actual despair<\/p>\n
Whilst some are bickering
\nDissenters conclude
\nThe maladjusted of course
\nThey exude

The disequilibrium
\nDeactivates power
\nIt weakens and injures

Dismantling systems
\nSubverting the good
\nSuppressing and strangling
\nReally what would
\nHave renewed and re fashioned
\nA resurgence abroad
\nBring into existence
\nA clever reward<\/p>\n
But violence and turmoil
\nBoth brothers in crime
\nOur lifelessness suffered
\nAn impassive time
\nWe became apathetic
\nConvulsed in the heat
\nOur absence of sense
\nHad us feeling beat<\/p>\n
The corporate arrogance
\nSurfaced to sweep
\nConsciousness lost out
\nAs darkness did creep
\nThe idiocy and the babbling class
\nSaw the moronic masses
\nReach their impasse<\/p>\n
All sorts of chemicals
\nWere tossed in the bay
\nDegreasers and sludge
\nThe oil spills away
\nTrash and raw sewerage
\nIt became the great bin
\nOut of sight out of mind
\nNobody could win<\/p>\n
The fish and the crabs
\nAnd the dolphins expired
\nAbandoned ships
\nThe graveyard was fired
\nUp in a sense as the pollutive intent
\nWas increased and increased
\nAnd None of it well mean’t<\/p>\n
10,000 fishermen struggle to be
\nCatching and trapping
\nThe remnants now key
\nMullet the odd one and not much else around
\nWithout sewerage treatment
\nIn shit they are drowned
\nMedical waste garbage everywhere
\nIts a water landfill
\nThat we all now share<\/p>\n
The fish and the bird life
\nAre lost we can say
\nVery few care what happens
\nEach day
\nTen million people live and around
\nAll of them gradually
\nBecoming drowned<\/p>\n
To the North there is action
\nA preserve fighting well
\nTo turn back to Heaven
\nFrom what is now Hell
\nWith some money from those
\nWho have polluted the bay
\nThey are planting new trees
\nAnd mangroves they say<\/p>\n
Birds are coming back
\nGAIA’s respects seem high
\nSome alligators
\nAnd the dolphins know why
\nNothing wants to exist
\nIn a quagmire of ill
\nIt makes sense to clean up
\nThis lagoon of swill<\/p>\n
There is little policing
\nThe corporate way
\nIs its cheaper to dump it
\nStraight in the bay
\nIf nobody’s looking
\nNo one can say
\nWho dumped what shit
\nSo its everyday<\/p>\n
Some foresight is needed
\nAnd some money too
\nToo many untruths
\nThe charlatans do
\nMisrepresent and are wiping us out
\nThe motive of profit
\nGives way to doubt<\/p>\n
Iniquitous and shameful
\nThe fly tipping creed
\nInsidious and troublous
\nIts where people feed
\nEach other its noxiousness
\nTainted and vile
\nSo bad in fact it goes off the dial!<\/p>\n
The deterioration
\nIs ugly and wrong
\nThe waters exhausted
\nIt doesn’t belong
\nIn this bay of such plenty
\nOnce teeming with life
\nNow spelling out danger
\nAnd peril and strife
\nThe warning is dire
