A barrel of tar
\nThrown in the street
\nA little dog
\nSomeone saw his feet
\nThere he was poor little blighter
\n stuck fast
\nA little lost soul
\nA tiny outcast<\/p>\n
Who knows how long
\nHe had been lying there
\nWith all of that wretched tar
\nStuck on his hair
\nEach time he tried to move
\nIt pained
\nTearfully, terribly
\nhe must have strained<\/p>\n
Every muscle trying to
\nGet free to see
\nWhat he could do
\nBut of course the tar
\nWas a sticky mess
\nAnd clearly causing him
\nMassive stress<\/p>\n
Out in full sun
\nBy the side of the street
\nJust like an oven
\nIn all of that heat
\nThe frustration and fright
\nImagine how
\nHe must have felt
\nAnd, so now<\/p>\n
Three men arrived
\nWith a metal cutter
\nAngels appearing
\nAnd crouched in the gutter
\nSone vegetable oil to hopefully
\nUse the oil to set him free<\/p>\n
Gently laboriously kneading and pulling
\nReleasing the fur from the sticky tar
\nThe poor little soul just quietly observing
\nThinking and wondering who they are
\nAnd how did they know he was in this barrel
\nHe hadnt cried out he was clearly lost
\nSomehow they found him and clearly were helping him
\nGently caressing as the tar they tossed<\/p>\n
Aside
\nthey had to be really so gentle
\nThe sticky nature could tear at his skin
\nBut they were patient and wonderfully earnest
\nAnd realised too just how thin
\nHe was how weak, neglected clearly
\nUnkempt and unheeded and left there to die
\nLife had apparently lost all its meaning
\nAnd he was surprised that they did now try<\/p>\n
It took a time but they did remove it
\nAnd took him back to the sanctuary where
\nThey named him “hope” for he clearly had shown them
\nSignificent energy and was so aware
\nNow he is walking around like a youngster
\nA few scars but truthfully not when you think
\nhow badly caked up he was in all that pollution
