{"id":32593,"date":"2017-03-30T20:10:28","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T20:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=32593"},"modified":"2017-03-31T13:29:11","modified_gmt":"2017-03-31T13:29:11","slug":"naivasha-just-100-km-from-nairobi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2017\/03\/naivasha-just-100-km-from-nairobi\/","title":{"rendered":"Naivasha just 100 KM from Nairobi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The second largest fresh water lake<br \/>\nIn Africa<br \/>\n250 sq miles and its cold<br \/>\nJust 15 metres deep<br \/>\nThe Rift valley if we leap<br \/>\nBackwards  BOAC flights<br \/>\nWere sold<br \/>\nAnd Would land here<br \/>\nFrom 1937 for 13 years<br \/>\nThey landed on this lake<br \/>\nIts news you couldnt make<br \/>\nUp<br \/>\nBut its reality<br \/>\nReally for our sake<\/p>\n<p>BOrn Free and Joy Adamson<br \/>\nHighlighted this place<br \/>\nAt the Southern End<br \/>\nIs a sanctuary<br \/>\nCRescent Island<br \/>\nShows its face<br \/>\nWhere anyone can spend<br \/>\nSome time there are no Lions<br \/>\nSo we walk about<br \/>\nAnd feel<br \/>\nFairly safe from predation<br \/>\nOr Ending up a meal<\/p>\n<p>In the lake the very dangerous<br \/>\nHIppotamus will be<br \/>\nIts undeniably beautiful here<br \/>\nAnd there us lots to see<br \/>\nGNu and Buffalo the tall Giraffe<br \/>\nZEbra&#8217;s and many Deer<br \/>\nAll protected from the poacher<br \/>\nThats if they appear<\/p>\n<p>Its a crater of a once submerged<br \/>\nVolcano<br \/>\nThorny acacia trees  everywhere<br \/>\nWhat is truly wonderful about the place<br \/>\nAre the water birds<br \/>\nWith their amazing grace<br \/>\nThe lake is full of fish<br \/>\nAnd so the Pelicans those masterful<br \/>\nGreat billed souls<br \/>\nAre often seen a fishing on the lake<br \/>\nTHe Goliath Heron sedately<br \/>\nWaits and catches the freshest fish<br \/>\nThat any bird could take<\/p>\n<p>COrmorants are  often here<br \/>\nAnd many others too<br \/>\nNesting high in trees<br \/>\nWho send threur great roots<br \/>\nOut of view<br \/>\nDown those 15 metres<br \/>\nInto the bed below<br \/>\nLittle tiny islets<br \/>\nIts how they choose to grow<\/p>\n<p>To feel the calmness see the sights<br \/>\nThe genuine the soul<br \/>\nOf Africa its vibrancy the lake<br \/>\nTakes on its role<br \/>\nProviding  an experience<br \/>\nFor migratory birds who come<br \/>\nAnd indigenous birds who stay here<br \/>\nAnd share the heart and drum<\/p>\n<p>Of Africa, its grounded self<br \/>\nKenya can boast aloud<br \/>\nIt provides an indelible experience<br \/>\nPeople should be proud<br \/>\nOf what is a great wonder<br \/>\nA natural idyll where<br \/>\nAnimals and birds can come<br \/>\nThe cold waters to share<\/p>\n<p>The impact remains amazing<br \/>\nSo much life is here<br \/>\nHardly any human beings<br \/>\nBut the animals life<br \/>\nIts clear<br \/>\nSanctuaries show sound judgement<br \/>\nAn attitude of mind<br \/>\nAn embodiment of all thats good<br \/>\nAs creation does unwind<\/p>\n<p>The spring of our emotion<br \/>\nThat coiled up pressured voice<br \/>\nAn abundance of wild animals<br \/>\nSurely we must have choice<br \/>\nTo come and lay waste to them<br \/>\nKill them for trophies, we<br \/>\nWesterners with bank accounts<br \/>\nAnd little else should  be<\/p>\n<p>Left to kill and injure<br \/>\nThats what death&#8217;s  about<br \/>\nBut this place is protected<br \/>\nFrom the stalwart type of rout<br \/>\nIt lends itself to ethic<br \/>\nOf the peaceful kind<br \/>\nWeighted heavily tonthe wilderness<br \/>\nAnd the animals that find<\/p>\n<p>Their spirit here<br \/>\nTheir soulfulness<br \/>\nA blessing to be sure<br \/>\nAFRICA is caring who can<br \/>\nExpect more<br \/>\nKingfishers and other birds<br \/>\nAnd ducks All of  them seem<br \/>\nTo come together to be happy<br \/>\nTo be part of this dream<\/p>\n<p>NAIVASHA please remember it<br \/>\nAn inevitable blue sky<br \/>\nVultures in their natural setting<br \/>\nWhere there is water, I<br \/>\nLike all the other creatures<br \/>\nKnow water is life and we<br \/>\nMust give the respect it warrants<br \/>\nTo remain forever free<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second largest fresh water lake In Africa 250 sq miles and its cold Just 15 metres deep The Rift valley if we leap Backwards BOAC flights Were sold And Would land here From 1937 for 13 years They landed &hellip;
