{"id":32576,"date":"2017-03-29T17:25:39","date_gmt":"2017-03-29T17:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=32576"},"modified":"2017-03-29T17:49:14","modified_gmt":"2017-03-29T17:49:14","slug":"whale-sharks-of-the-galapagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2017\/03\/whale-sharks-of-the-galapagos\/","title":{"rendered":"Whale sharks of the Galapagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is it that makes the whale sharks<br \/>\nDecide<br \/>\nTo come to the Galapagos<br \/>\nNo one&#8217;s denied<br \/>\nTheir beauty their wondrousness<br \/>\nHow they pacify<br \/>\nAnyone passing<br \/>\nAnd wondering why<\/p>\n<p>The last ocean sanctuaries<br \/>\nSeemed so jam full<br \/>\nChangeable currants<br \/>\nOne hell of a pull<br \/>\nECuador&#8217;s islands<br \/>\nForgotten by time<br \/>\nOn the land and the sea<br \/>\nIts really where I&#8217;m<\/p>\n<p>So fascinated, what is there to see<br \/>\nThe great giant souls<br \/>\nPregnant females who be<br \/>\nHere for the plankton the krill maybe so<br \/>\nWhatever quite soon<br \/>\nAll of them go<br \/>\nSome north and east to Peru<br \/>\nWhich is why<br \/>\nWe tag them to track them<br \/>\nAnd learn to rely<\/p>\n<p>This is Darwin Island<br \/>\nAnd the magnificent arch<br \/>\nThese great spotted beasts<br \/>\nWhose apparent march<br \/>\nCan be must forever<br \/>\nNobody knows<br \/>\nTill this satellite tracking<br \/>\nData just grows<\/p>\n<p>At 18 metres long<br \/>\nAnd 30 tons weight<br \/>\nThey can live 70 years<br \/>\nAnd they are quite sedate<br \/>\nSwimming mouths open<br \/>\nScooping so much<br \/>\nOf the plankton into them<br \/>\nThey are so in touch<\/p>\n<p>With the ocean they live in<br \/>\nUndeniably so<br \/>\nIts the sum and the substance<br \/>\nThe immortal flow<br \/>\nThey have swum here for aeons<br \/>\nAnd as we know<br \/>\nWere already here<br \/>\nWhen the dinosaurs came<br \/>\nDesigned to perfection<br \/>\nFor they have stayed the same<\/p>\n<p>China unfortunately<br \/>\nDares to advance<br \/>\nHunting these creatures<br \/>\nWhen they get the chance<br \/>\nFor their fins nit for soup<br \/>\nBut for decoration<br \/>\nDried in shop windows<br \/>\nAs a celebration<\/p>\n<p>And oil from their blubber<br \/>\nUsed for  proofing clothes<br \/>\nThese silent sentinels<br \/>\nEveryone loathes<br \/>\nThis terrible waste of such a<br \/>\nBeautiful soul<br \/>\nWhose gentle persuasion<br \/>\nOfcourse they enrol<\/p>\n<p>The flesh is so white<br \/>\nWhen its cooked that they call<br \/>\nIt &#8220;tofu&#8221;shark<br \/>\nAnd as a rule<br \/>\nThis majestic whale<br \/>\nIs butchered in pain<br \/>\nJust sliced up alive<br \/>\nAs its warm blood does drain<\/p>\n<p>The galapagos islands<br \/>\nHave seen visitors come<br \/>\nThe giant tortoises<br \/>\nWashed in and some<br \/>\nIguana came on rafts<br \/>\nMyriad souls<br \/>\nUnique varieties<br \/>\nEach with their own roles<\/p>\n<p>What of their fates<br \/>\nIn the oceans of grime<br \/>\nGreat showers of plastic<br \/>\nAnd ugly slime<br \/>\nDark fukushima its evil<br \/>\nSpreads large<br \/>\nCesium and strontium<br \/>\nNo camouflage<br \/>\non earth<br \/>\nCan prevent<br \/>\nImpregnation now by<br \/>\nThe currents the invisible soup<br \/>\nTo belie<\/p>\n<p>The threats just a maniac<br \/>\nNow would accept<br \/>\nThat the PAcific Ocean<br \/>\nHOw ever adept<br \/>\nYou are at withstanding<br \/>\nThe Natural World<br \/>\nWhat We are now doing<br \/>\nAs we  are all hurled<br \/>\nInto its maelstrom of evil intent<br \/>\nWhich i can assure you<br \/>\nIn not heaven sent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is it that makes the whale sharks Decide To come to the Galapagos No one&#8217;s denied Their beauty their wondrousness How they pacify Anyone passing And wondering why The last ocean sanctuaries Seemed so jam full Changeable currants One &hellip;
