\nCreates in man a need
\nTo suffer with his family
\nThey are owned and robbed indeed
\nUnderfed and down at heel
\nUnable to pay ones way
\nSo drawn into great dangers
\nJust hopeful they can pay<\/p>\n
In the Congo there are minerals
\nCOLTAN and Cobalt they
\nAre used by multi nationals
\nIn computers so a way
\nOf encouraging the poorest
\nTo mine these rocks and try
\nTo make ends meet for the elite
\nWho pursue their profits high<\/p>\n
Artisanal mining below the poverty line
\nPuts families in great danger
\nThe rigours of their mine
\nDug out by hand and children
\nMade to scramble in the dust
\nThey truly scratch a living
\nAnd feel the worlds disgust<\/p>\n
Slavery its slavery its vile and dangerous
\nThey
\nSuffer many injuries and die along the way
\nChildren slave all through the day
\nTo eke out something for
\nTheir families perhaps a bowl of rice
\nAnd ofcourse they break the law<\/p>\n
China is there and is buying
\nUp the coltan every day
\nIts hell on earth for everyone
\nAnd the children really play
\nInto the corporate puzzle
\nInto the world wide need
\nFor lithium ion batteries
\nSo the rich now can succeed<\/p>\n
Children in the west with all their gadgets
\nChildren in the Congo slaves at 5
\nWorse than victorian Britain
\nAll these children smitten
\nAnd many many of them don’t survive
\nCobalt dust is injurious and evil
\nDesperation causes families too
\nDamage vital river beds and suffer
\nMercury tailings
\nCyanide such ignorance
\nCreating myriad failings<\/p>\n
Destruction of the wilderness
\nOf national parks as well
\nWild animals are suffering
\nFrom what is man made hell
\nPoverty leads many into mining as we see
\nAnd the corporates are earning
\nReally massively<\/p>\n
The families are angst ridden
\nSuffering every day
\nAnguished and tormented
\nAnd uncared for its the way
\nThe west just pays the piper
\nThe east just suffers more
\nThe slaves and there are many
\nAll work outside the law<\/p>\n
Other peoples children
\nDoomed by our response
\nWretched and despondent
\nEvery child here wants
\nA laptop or a smart phone
\nWhilst katangan children die
\nSacrificing everything
\nWhilst the corporate media lie<\/p>\n
It is abuse and harassment
\nA curse on those who slave
\nKarma few imagine
\nThe lives of those now grave
\nAnd as we all want more and more
\nSo more children will die
\nFar away in terror
