Rodeo is a Spanish Concept
\nWhich influenced the US their
\nStock Farms were required by law
\nFrom 1851 to share<\/p>\n
A rodeo of sorts within the limits
\nOf their place
\nIt was William F Cody himself
\nWho in North platte joined the race<\/p>\n
That was in Nebraska in 1882
\nAnd cowboys from all over
\nWanted to show
\nwhat they could do<\/p>\n
Ego’s are exploding the menfolk
\nTook on board
\nA reason to show off their so called skills
\nAnd to afford<\/p>\n
A kind of wild west showtime
\nfor the best around
\nAny competing cowboys
\nwith sponsors on the ground<\/p>\n
The stock though
\nare the animals
\nThe cows the calves
\nThe horse
\nand to me that screams aggression
\nOf breaking in by force<\/p>\n
What happened just the other day
\nWas a nine year old he ran
\nInto a wall breaking every rule
\nWhen the commentary began<\/p>\n
“Treasure of Patience” was being ridden
\nA saddle bronc apparently
\nAnd clearly was in a state of upset
\nAnd So ended his life regretably<\/p>\n
An experienced rider
\nnot a young horse
\nComing out to the ring
\nIt was all about force<\/p>\n
Controlling the animal
\nall of that skill
\nIn an effort to breakdown
\nthe poor souls will<\/p>\n
Despite all the breeding
\nthe wild DNA
\nIs very much in
\nhorses even today<\/p>\n
And in an enclosure
\nwith the sweep and desire
\nWith the noise all around
\nfor a horse it is dire<\/p>\n
And this soul was fearful
\nridden like this
\nAnd clearly not feeling
\nthe audience bliss<\/p>\n
Its become entertainment
\nexcitement and all
\nBring the whole family
\nthis is the school<\/p>\n
Of thought it makes money
\na circus of thrills
\nBut really its all about
\nfilling the tills<\/p>\n
Its what men do
\nWhat do they do?
\nShow us that we
\nCan control a wild soul
\nWith pure power we can free<\/p>\n
The wildness and nerve
\nfrom a horse naturally
\nWe can squeeze with our thighs
\nfor the prize
\nThat will be<\/p>\n
Some bit of junk
\non the mantle shelf there
\nIts all about ego
\nand not being aware<\/p>\n
Of the animals fear,
\nof its pain of its heart
\nOf its soul urge to run on the hills
\nJust to start <\/p>\n
its life to relax
\nto just be itself
\nBut it ends gathering dust
\non some old cowboys shelf<\/p>\n
And along come the sponsors
\nheartless to choose
\nWhat is just cruelty
\nand I refuse<\/p>\n
To believe it is anything
\nless than what we
\nWould expect from a pastime
\nfor people to see<\/p>\n
Slaves in the ring
\nlike centurions they
\nHave to fight have to run
\nhave to try and get away
\nTo be roped and lassoed
\nand ridden and made
\nTo do what the men want
\nthats their stock in trade<\/p>\n
But this isn’t a stock farm
\nits a wild west show
\nYou pay 20 dollars
\nto see the big show<\/p>\n
Razzamatazz
\nall the fun of the fair
\nA great place for anyone
\nstill unaware<\/p>\n
And there we see horses
\nbut do we see
\nhorses
\nThey are the slaves expected to be
\nSubservient
\nto these stars with big ego’s
\nUp against horses that want to be free<\/p>\n
It is performance
\ninteraction exertion
\nAnd labour
\nand all done with force
\nSubjection a kind of rough manipulation
\nTo act to perform
\nand manoeuvre a horse<\/p>\n
To achieve to accomplish to control
\na big ask
\nTo exploit and create
\njust any task<\/p>\n
Commercialization the big compromise
\nThe show must go on so its not a surprise
\nThat live souls will object will get spooked up with fear
\nAnd panic when whatever is not very clear<\/p>\n
Stirring and kicking
\nin a vigourous way
\nRestless and fretful
\nthe animals pay<\/p>\n
They feel hyperactive and react badly they
\nAre troubled and frantic and want out today
\nThere is haste their is hustle they scramble and whirl
\nIts a race against time and clearly they hurl<\/p>\n
Themselves every which way
\ntrying to be
\nOnce again in control
\nof themselves actually<\/p>\n
And in this case a wall just happens to be
\nThere in the way and a crash we all see
\nThe horse is a gonna the victim in pain
\nStill instinctively kicking trying to gain<\/p>\n
An escape from this torment this evil of man
\nTo get back to the hills where his life began
\nWe get a running commentary from some arse
\nWho talks about prayer and what will come to pass<\/p>\n
It isn’t refreshing
\nto hear his sad drawl
\nIn essence dear friends
\nwhat it does does appal<\/p>\n
This horse ran the gambit
\nand found a stone wall
\nAnd the rider flipped off
\nsaved himself from it all<\/p>\n
What would we expect as a victim is lying
\nClearly in agony death is defying
\nThe slavery this horse has had to undergo
\nFiled under statistics all part of the show<\/p>\n
Clear up the mess
\nget the sponsors on side
\nBank all the dosh
\nthe rest is denied<\/p>\n
The electric prodders
\nexciting the fear
\nThe kicks and the whacks
\nand now get out of here<\/p>\n
The calves roped
\nand some crashing down in the ring
\nPulled around just like sacks of spuds
\nthat some fling
\nThe dissension one feels and the hostility
\nThe defiance and brazenness that seemingly
\nInsults the humane and we see assault
\nBodily harm oh its nobody’s fault!<\/p>\n
Its about submissiveness at any price
\nThese are wild beings they are not made of ice
\nThey have their feelings, and capitulation
\nIs not in their makeup its not their salvation
\nProstrate they kick even so close to death
\nThey will never be malleable losing what breath
\nThey need to be getting until they succumb
\nTo the ego of cowboys,and the rodeo scrum<\/p>\n
