Like so many other
\nanimals, existing in
\nthe wild
\nencroachment by the
\nhuman population
\nnow has piled
\nstresses on communities
\nof Koala’s for they be
\nvery fussy eaters
\ntheir intensive dietary
\nperhaps a dozen types of gum
\nwhich is really not that much
\nand being so specific
\nlogging well its such
\na horrendous shock and they
\nhave lost some 80% of the trees
\nalong the way
\nthe 20% that’s left
\nnot all now please
\non private land
\nthe only choice
\nthe Koala doesn’t have a voice
\nthey compete with humans
\nall the time
\nas most of us now know
\nthe animal earthlings come
\noff worse
\nfor humans tend to be
\nselfish when it comes to those
\nwild animals now free
\ntheir cats and dogs will
\nkill them
\nand already they must be
\naware of Dingo’s, Foxes
\nand feral dogs, yes we
\ncan’t start to really
\nunderstand the stress
\nKoala’s feel
\nand stress is very weakening
\nas their poor health
\ndoes reveal
\nchlamydia is wiping out
\na lot of them, I hear
\npneumonia and conjunctivitis
\nits the threat,the fear
\nit gets to all these
\nsentient souls
\nit really drags them down
\nand cars that travel
\nfar too fast when
\nthey are out of town
\ncause many to be road kills
\ngoannas take a few
\neagles owls and pythons
\nare there to eat some too<\/p>\n
Arborial marsupials
\nare balanced in the trees
\nnice sharp claws
\nso well adapted
\non, foraging sprees
\nof course they are nocturnal
\nsleeping in the day
\nwhen ts hot conserving water
\nit has to be the way
\ntheir nose is, so so sensitive
\nit must differentiate
\nthose Eucalypt’s that it can eat
\nand those it doesn’t rate
\nthe best trees grow on fertile soil
\nthe poor soil tend to be
\ntrees that are more poisonous
\nits so stressful actually<\/p>\n
years ago the hunters came
\ntheir fur was shipped away
\na lot of it was utilized
\nin the USA
\nbut now they are endangered
\nthe Eastern side of OZ
\nis about the only place you’ll find
\nthem well you know because
\nof the human population
\nwe are a threat to all
\nevery living earthling
\nshort, fat skinny, tall
\nif only we could act as though
\nwe were sentient then we
\ncould live together side by side
\nthroughout eternity.<\/p>\n
The pesticides that we apply
\nthe stuff we spray about
\nbush fires really that’s enough
\nfor any who still doubt
\nland clearance, mining
\nForestry and the miles and miles
\nof road
\ndie back trees
\nCan you can feel the stress
