Living in Northern Thailand
\nAnd being a sensitive soul
\nA women whose nurturing qualities
\nWere always in control
\nShe had elders to advise her
\nShe realized the earth
\nAnd capitalised on her true belief
\nShe understood its worth<\/p>\n
It was fundamental to her
\nHer philosophy to respect
\nAnd be kind to elephants
\nThose fine souls she could see
\nWho were anything but respected
\nBy the great majority<\/p>\n
They weee slaves out in the forest
\nChained and made to strive
\nOr begging on the concrete roads
\nUnhappy to be alive
\nOr tormented in the zoos and temples
\nGiven a terrible time
\nHow soon they became disabled
\nBeing made to climb<\/p>\n
On hills out in the jungle
\nAnd the babies with phajan
\nHow some mahouts would beat them
\nBeat them As a plan
\nWith bull hooks and with whips
\nThese majestic beasts how they
\nSuffered really suffered
\nAt the hands of man each day<\/p>\n
This feeling was in ber marrow
\nIn her heart and in her soul
\nShe hated what she saw men do
\nHow they tried to control
\nA soul who could just crush them
\nCould squeeze their heads to dust
\nBut allowed men still to beat them
\nKnowing how unjust<\/p>\n
Born in BAAN KAO she had the chance
\nTo realize and feel
\nAll the pain the elephants felt
\nWhich For her was very real
\nShe realized how grounded they were
\nAnd decided what she would do
\nWas give her love and caring spirit
\nAnd maintain that all through<\/p>\n
And despite their size and tortured life
\nOf course they would respond
\nThey had substance and solidity
\nAn ethic so to bond
\nWith any human spirit
\nThat showed them some acclaim
\nAnd loved them and respected them
\nAnd let them be the same<\/p>\n
Deep down ingrained in all their hearts
\nIs love and care and they
\nAppreciate the love received
\nAnd loved her back each day
\nShe is a beautiful lady
\nInside and outside too
\nAnd elephants of course
\nhave huge hearts
\nAnd it has been their view<\/p>\n
Since time began to give their love
\nBut its thrown back in their face
\nTheir love is being stalwart to the cruelty
\nThey face
\nSome go haywire eventually
\nAnd kill mahouts and those
\nWho have been so vile and unkind to them
\nAnd tragically did pose<\/p>\n
A threat to their existence
\nBut in the main we see
\nElephants being good natured
\nAnd hopeful actually
\nAnd LEK has proved their saviour
\nAnd they have granted their
\nLove and understanding
\nAnd of course are bound to care<\/p>\n
THe ELephant Nature Park she runs
\nIs a park full up with friends
\nShe has a kinship with them
\nA family and that sends
\nMany messages skywards
\nTo the cruelty we see
\nIn Thailand to this very day
\nA kind of eternal plea<\/p>\n
For love and just for caring
\nFor just rewards return
\nElephants are wonderful
\nThey have so much concern
\nFor the environment around them
\nAnd the people in their life
\nThey are honest and abiding
\nAnd want nothing to do with strife<\/p>\n
