The summer sun was hotter still
\nAnd some sprinklers had been left on
\nTo dampen down the pasture
\nSo not all the grass had gone
\nWhich attracted the ground squirrels
\nTo delay their hibernation
\nTo get about and eat the seeds
\nFor them it was salvation<\/p>\n
The Pinnacle Peak Pack
\nWere a pack of wolves
\nStill doing well
\nEleven pups between two females
\nThat alone did tell
\nAnyone observing that these wolves
\nKnew their stuff
\nThey were very adaptable
\nTo conditions that were tough<\/p>\n
They had a real good strategy
\nFor catching the squirrels too
\nSomething they had not done before
\nBut they worked out what to do
\nThree of them were cornering the guards
\nAnd pouncing they
\nCaught lots of them and fed their pups
\nWith rich protein on that day<\/p>\n
Phenomenal and physical and all that entails
\nDown to human activity which truthfully just pales
\nInto real significance how fortune is ascribed
\nTo those who are successful as I had described<\/p>\n
Climate change and the animals the survivors really will
\nPush ahead like warriors and have their share of kill
\nWhats going on inside their heads how are we to know
\nBut they make their own good fortune
