A singular mind
\nUngrudgingly so
\nWho on his own initiative
\nThought he could grow
\nA forest
\nWhere there was no forest
\nFor he
\nKnew the power and the need
\nOf the growing tree<\/p>\n
Majuli the biggest river island
\nThe world
\nHas ever seen
\nApparently hurled into being
\nA while ago
\nAnd every year
\nThe great Bramaputra’s wild wild spear
\nSlices great chunks out of this paradise
\nThis beautiful island
\nWhere the people grow rice<\/p>\n
Since 1917 half the island is gone
\nIt has been washed away
\nAnd houses upon the banks all were
\nWashed away nothing is left
\nAnd within 20 years we could all be bereft<\/p>\n
Of this absolute paradise
\nIf nothings done
\nINDIA needs to wake up
\nSee the sun
\nrealise what a beautiful
\nIdyll thats here
\nAnd invest some money
\nto make it APPear<\/p>\n
One jadav payeng known as the
\nFOrest man
\nhas invested so much
\nIt was his life plan
\nto plant trees each day since
\n1979
\nAnd sees his own forest
\nUpon where the sun likes to shine<\/p>\n
Beautiful greenery lush verdant land

\nTigers and Rhino and vultures and Deer
\nAll find their place in his forest of cheer<\/p>\n
He comes every day without fail for he knows
\nThe extent of the problem that the river does pose
\nHe loves the island and surely he would
\nFor all that he has done there is so very good<\/p>\n
A self imposed work schedule
\nEveryday
\nAnd he is not rich and has to pay
\nA lot just to get there and do what he does
\nAnd the finished example it really does buzz<\/p>\n
With emotional output the animals there
\nClearly are loving it they are aware
\nOf tbis man and his journey and willingness to
\nPlant out his forest and to continue<\/p>\n
The great ochre sandbanks first line defence
\nAnd the mighty river clearly is tense
\nWashing away so much land every year
\nINDIA wake up now please can you hear<\/p>\n
A heitage site it needs to be called
\nAll of this beauty needs to be over hauled
\nThe forest man proves what one man can do
\nHis staying poaer obvious and he is true<\/p>\n
To himself to his forest to the animals who
\nCome its their life afterall and when we view
\nThe extent of his efforts we have to exclaim
\nThat he is a saint and bis heart should inflame<\/p>\n
All of those others who live there
\nFor they
\ncan all make that difference
\nSave the island today
\nPut their backs into what is a glorious place
\nWith wildness and sharing and caring at base<\/p>\n
Planting coconut palms would be an idea
\nThey stop soil erosion and their oil it’s not dear
\nThey Are healthy and sought after And therefore could
\nHelp economically providing a case
\nFor some cash injection now at a pace<\/p>\n
Giving him prizes is not what he needs
\nSupport him, create something for all his deeds
