Don’t tell us we’re not exuberant
\nAs hermit crabs go
\nYou tourists come here and take Our shells away
\nAs well you know<\/p>\n
But everyday we are growing
\nSo these days now what can we do
\nThere’s not enough real house building
\nFor first time buyers
\nAnd for us really only a few<\/p>\n
Properties are on the market
\nThose close to the beach are all gone
\nSo we have to make do with mackeral cans
\nAnd coke cans that you’ve thrown upon<\/p>\n
The dunes or the pavement and many are sticky
\nThey stink like the clappers which puts our backs up
\nAnd its just a smooth cylinder rubbish to hold
\nWe are advertising thats what we’ve been told<\/p>\n
Why not make tins more shell like so we
\ncould move into them and just live in the sea
\nYou know it makes sense the recycling way
\nA lifetime of selling, its clear it will pay<\/p>\n
And under the sea it could make all the difference
\nGreat stacks of coke cans a city infact
\nEasy to sell when we outgrow it makes sense
\nAnd with coral and sea weeds it would attract<\/p>\n
Second time buyers and hermits with families
\nWhy do these ideas come from us,not from you
\nYou dump all your plastic into our oceans
\nAt least use you heads a bit and help us to do<\/p>\n
The good thing the right thing
\nA home for a lifetime
\nA ham tin where lots live in a commune
\nYou know it makes sense a practical sea tip
\nWhere all of the hermits can be living soon<\/p>\n
You know on your own its a solitary journey
\nNo one to talk to And nobody cares
\nTo live in a city of Cans would be pretty
