that coat was thick and heavy
\nHe oiled it, I recall
\nAnd it was always on the brass hook
\nHanging in the hall
\nHe wore it in the forest
\nWhich he took me to each day
\nOne particular spot he liked
\nAnd to me he would always say<\/p>\n
Less is more I remember
\nThinking
\nHow can less be more
\nIt was where the ladies of the wood
\nHe said Helped him to keep score
\nit felt so soft beneath our
\nFeet
\nFrom the falling leaves
\nThat encouraged the delicate
\nChanterelles to prove that who believes<\/p>\n
In the magickal experience
\nThat goes on all the time
\nPoetry in motion
\nAnd the reason for each rhyme
\nHe would take a bunch of these funghi
\nAnd put them in his coat
\nInside he had a pocket
\nOiled and ready and he would dote
\nOn all the various pockets
\nThe coat had for he knew
\nAnything he foraged for
\nWould be safe and that was true<\/p>\n
He would shallow fry them
\nin some coconut fat
\nAnd place them carefully on some sough dough toast
\nAnd we then sat
\nTogether he was showing me
\nThe correlation where
\nWhere this particular fungi lived
\nAnd why we had to share<\/p>\n
Less is more he would say to me
\nMore I dare not take
\nMy pocket isnt Massive
\nAnd more then just might break
\nAnd spoil because there are more there
\nDoesnt mean that we
\nshould Ever take more than we need
\nThey remain a delicacy<\/p>\n
Less is more son less is more
\nThe great coat hung up by the door
\nPockets here and pockets there
\nFor seeds and catkins, and I swear
\nSometimes when I wear it now
\nI can hear my fathers voice
\nIts how<\/p>\n
He will always guide me
\nAnd his greatcoat really does
\nKeep me safe and warm inside
\nAnd I get this buzz
\nFor I believe it is magic
\nFor where I wear it I
\nAlways find my breakfast
\nIn the forest and thats no lie<\/p>\n
It really is a greatcoat
\nFor I believe that he
\nHas passed his knowledge
\nThread by thread into my heart
\nAnd each tree
\nThat I now can recognize
\nOn its skirt I will
\nFind something for my breakfast
\nSomething that will thrill<\/p>\n
My tastebuds with the subtlety
\nThat wild foods do possess
\nI know for certain his greatcoat
\nThough it sometimes looks a mess
\nWhen I go out a foraging
\nThat is what I wear
\nAnd I just retain his knowledge
\nFor i know it is always there<\/p>\n
