\nWe are Kea’s and we know
\nWe are alpine parrots
\nWith a lot of stuff on show
\nJust gander at our tuxedo’s
\nRainbow feathered, we
\nWith an olive background
\nAnd with aquamarine you see<\/p>\n
Orange blues and purples
\nKinetically we soar
\nWe are alpine parrots
\nWhich no one can ignore
\nWe are above the snow line
\nIce digging our forte
\nAnd we can soar in thermals
\nKatabatic ones each day<\/p>\n
Known as mountain monkeys
\nFor our brainboxes are good
\nWe can work out puzzles
\nBetter than primates could
\nWe really are inquisitive
\nOur beaks are sharp and strong
\nWe love to pick at rubber and plastic
\nWhich we know is wrong <\/p>\n
We pull things off your motor cars
\nIt is what we do
\nWe are a bloody nuisance
\nThat is people view
\nWe are coming under fire a bit
\nFrom the diets people eat
\nIce cream and chips is not good for us
\nAnd it really can unseat<\/p>\n
Our truest equilbrium
\nAnd endangered we have become
\nThe stoats are taking our babies out
\nBut when we grow up they are dumb
\nCompared to us for certain
\nBut as baby birds we see
\nThem getting into our nests a lot
\nAnd killing us rapidly<\/p>\n
And then the bloody government
\nUse 1080 from the air
\nPoisoning the stoats and rats
\nAnd possums everywhere
\nAnd we get killed as well alas
\nIts very toxic stuff
\nWe are dying daily
\nAnd we have had enough<\/p>\n
Up there in the mountains
\nWhere the air is wholly good
\nUp above the snow line
\nAs travellers we should
\nBe pioneers of course we should
\nAnd fly around all day
\nHitch hike on the back of trucks
\nOur wildness is our way<\/p>\n
All sorts of human puzzles
\nWe figure out real fast
\nChimps dont stand a chance with us
\nTheir die alas is cast
\nAnd we can fly like crazy
\nSoar into the blue
\nThe southern alps is where we go
\nTo get away from you<\/p>\n
Grassland moorland mountains
\nForests even we
\nCan lend ourselves to anywhere
\nAnywhere thats free
\nThe wilderness the open sky
\nAnywhere to soar
\nWe are all beacons of brilliance
\nWhich no one can ignore<\/p>\n
Its sad the silly government
\nLeave those traps around
\nIts because we are inquisitive
\nAnd they are left on the ground
\nSome of us get crushed in them
\nIt really isnt fair
\nBecause you are not discerning enough
\nNow we are becoming rare<\/p>\n
With the very best intentions
\nWe remain a friendsly lot
\nIts humans who are ignorant
\nAnd too many now have got
\nA lot less between their ears than us
\nFeeding us crap that they
\nEat now all this fast food
\nThat is killing us today<\/p>\n
Remember we are KEA’s
\nParrots number one
\nUp there in the mountains
\nFlying in the sun
\nPlaying with the falling snow
\nAnything For you
\nLike zephrs in the universe
\nWe effervesce we do<\/p>\n
We clearly are endangered now
\nNot many place we
\nCan be safe in your environment
\nNEW ZEALAND Actually
\nIs getting to be a dangeous place
\nDeapite our clever ways
\nAnd we are falling now like flies
\nEntering a phase
\nOf losing it completely
\nSo what you have to do
