Yule was no fool
\nHe was wiser than most
\nHe loved sough dough bread
\nAnd yeast extract on toast<\/p>\n
A big bowl of oat groats
\nTo warm him all through
\nAnd hot water and lemon
\nWhich made him feel new<\/p>\n
It had been fairly mild
\nAnd it was Christmas Eve
\nWet, clearly set
\nor so I believe<\/p>\n
For a long frosty day
\nand as the story goes
\nYUle was no fool
\nAnd so what he chose<\/p>\n
Was to honour his friends
\nJust for one day
\nAnd save all their lives
\nSo now let me say<\/p>\n
The dormouse had woken
\nAnd wanted to eat
\nMasses of nuts
\nFor him such a treat<\/p>\n
He had to get fat
\nAs fat as could be
\nSo hibernation
\nWas not so risky.<\/p>\n
The tawny owls
\nwould be wanting to eat
\nThe domouse that ran
\nFull of nuts such a treat<\/p>\n
But eating the dormouse
\nWas not seen as good
\nSo the gift that was given was life
\nAnd it should<\/p>\n
Be appreciated
\nand so the owl
\nWas told Leave
\nthe dormouse alone
\nTo cry foul<\/p>\n
The birds were all told leave the snails
\nOn the ground
\nand the slugs and the worms
\nDon’t make a sound<\/p>\n
All of you live on this Christmas day
\nNo accidents no injuries stay safe
\nI say
\nI am old Winter and my gift to you
\nIs you all remain safe
\nTill this year is through<\/p>\n
Then the cycle of nature
\nComes back in play
\nYou must be observant
\nIn every way
\nPrey animals predatorx
\ninstinctively must
\nRemember the order
\nAnd really be just<\/p>\n
In all that you do
\nDo not over eat
\nEach needs their life
\nEach loves that treat
\nBe courtous always
\nWith so much respect
\nAnd love for each other
\nAnd try to protect
\nThe weakest the oldest
\nThe sick and infirm<\/p>\n
For life is so beautiful
\nThe flea and the worm
\nEach have their place
\nAnd we all do today
\nAnd to all of my dear friends
\nThis I do say<\/p>\n
Thankyou for bringing me into your life
\nFor sharing my poems and easing my strife
\nThank you for being a part of my soul
\nAnd helping me truthfully just to control
\nMy pain and discomfort for without you all
\nIt would have been difficult so
\nthankyou dear YULE<\/p>\n
For granting my wish for the creatures around
\nWho all need a gift thats what I have found
\nIt matters not what it is as long as it comes<\/p>\n
