his home was a forest
And from his home a path
Smelling the different smells he could
And hearing his great friend Garth

Garth provided his commentary
The panting padding sound
He was jacks best friend alive
His foot sounds on the ground
Were clearly very helpful
To Jack in special ways
Daylight was never apparent
Night no different than days

One winters days it had snowed
The night before
JAck said to Garth
Lets go garth in the forest
Lets go via the path
What are the trees now looking like
And the dog began to bark
And jack could feel the softness of the ground
Around the park

He could also feel the coldness
As the snow flakes hit his face
And kind of turned to water
They were gone without a trace
Garth somehow was able
To help dear Jack to see
And jack with his hearing
And keen scent
Obliged miraculously

To any moment of expression
And of sight
Is what is going to be the opposite
Its white so all you see is blackness
And all there is is white
You can see the black curtain
So try hard to imagine white

Jack could not see anything
Just a space a sort of void
That happened to be colourless
A piece of celluloid
A story without an ending
An environment without light
Where upon Young jack he tripped and fell
And tried with all his might

To stop himself but crashed down
On the icy ground
And garth was clealy worried
They had had strayed far from the path
And now the snow was falling hard
Where Did the path go
With all this snow a tumbling down
It just now didnt show

I lay down and Garth told me
Be best run and find
Some help because he knew he could
For me just being blind
Everywhere the dark curtain
Really just one hue
My sense of smell and hearing
Were clearly good and true

But I still could not see colours
Or recognize quite where
I was i had no bearings
And so heightened despair
Then suddenly my feet just slipped
From under me and I
Sprawled out in the grassy mud
And upside down did lie

My head was really aching
Apparently as I fell
my head hit a great wooden board
Which Sort of felt like Hell
And I was knocked a’sunder
Like a thunder strike it was
And I then rang my dear mama
Well really just because

It did make sense to let her
Know where I was and why
And I was going to sleep that night
On the litter that was dry
In the morning light they found me
And on me laying there
Was a fox and a wild badger
And two deers
That they did share

And each half hour the foxes
Licked the snow away
Melted the ice with their sweet tongues
Medicinally they say
For all these florence nightingales
Gave warmth
And saliva too
A Sort of palliative care
Which Is what the wild folk do

Leaves had fallen down on me and certain
Berries too
Forests dont have physicians
Really to get through
There was only the night sky
And the trees around that calmed
And garths friends their Saliva
That hopefully wouldnt have harmed

When Garth returned i could hear him
Padding and his breath
Clearly he had followed my scent
And was frighted half to death
At really what had become of me
For it had been some hours
The animals had all laid with me
Giving their healing powers

They Had kept me warm and safe infact
Though they told me that my eyes
Were all covered in some watery substance
And with leaves too surprise!
The ambulance men had cleaned me up
And carried me away to their waiting ambulance
Which was not that far away

Garth leapt in beside me
And the ambulance soec away
They covered me with a blanket

But i just felt ok
Really I had the assurance
That I Had been Quite safe
The refuge was their bodies
And me a human waif
Unable to attempt the walking
Without my trusty hound
And before garth left
He found some mates
Who were happy to come around

The news is just spectacular
Despite my adversity
The head wound that I had sustained
Had been cleaned up beautifully
Sods law hadnt kicked in
Apparently the snow and the combined saliva licks
Were amazing and I know

The miracle that is nature
To believers
And to me
When I fell down in that wood
I knew I couldnt see
But when I regained my consciousness
Colours filled my eyes
I could actually see those colours
I could actuualy realise

It was never supposition
It was healing from my friends
The foxes and the badgers
And the Hares their saliva ends
The darkness and the awful pains
That frequesntly did come
The wild souls perform miracles
And clearly I had some

Of course the doctors talked about
A change in my brain stem
The optical nerve some sort of curve
But for me the only gem
In my life were the wild friends
Who came to heal me they
Interpreted my actual need
And it was them that saved the day

The bountifulness I experienced
To be able to see
The colours in the forest
The greens and browns that be
So obvious in Autumn and winter with the snow
The whiteness of the branches
Fulfilled was I you know

E

A blackout curtain was all young Jack Was ever able to see Nothing
