In my little garden
\njust outside my window
\nPlant elves are at work
\nand what they do
\nis encourage all those
\npollinating insects
\nto come and help their charges
\nto get through
\nthose dark days when the storm clouds
\nand the hailstones
\nhave their way
\nteaching them to draw down deep into themselves
\nand say
\nThey hover on my Rosemary’s green tufts
\nabseiling they
\nswing on the Convolvulus
\nto pass the time of day
\nthose funnel shaped flowers
\ninside them, some do lay and bask
\ntasting the sweet nectar
\nheld inside each flask
\nJasmine fronds dance merrily
\nin the morning light
\nlots of leaves just everywhere
\nsnaking left to right
\nLemon Balm Melissa
\nto kiss her, is to taste
\nthe scent that wafts within her
\nfrom the beauty of her face
\nred ballerina’s pirouette
\neach pistil pitched to send
\na seed into oblivion
\nto honour and distend
\nalchemists are everywhere
\nthe phenomena exists
\nAstragalus is searching
\nfor selenium and lists
\nthose who fail to understand
\nthe value of just how soon
\nbut can’t know of its fascination
\nof the plant towards the Moon
\na smothering of certain plants
\nall singing the same tune
\nleaving the field fallow
\nwill prove you are a star
\nfor wildness returns nutrients
\nthat probably now are
\nlacking, so protecting the wider universe
\nand of course the precious substrate
\nfrom getting any worse
\nThe plant elves know the chemistry
\nthey understand and do
\nprovide a perfect medium
\nfor humus to accrue
\nits all about life’s balance
\na concept mankind shuns
\ninstead, his artificial stuff
\nhe goes to town great guns
\nacceleration follows
\nunsustainable advice
\nthe biosphere is hurting
\nit isn’t very nice
\nselectively the uptake
\ncan be, seriously, flawed
\ncreating future anomalies
\nin the wider ether stored
\nIn my little garden
\njust outside my window, there
\na frog sits in the litter
\ngulping down sweet air
\na Robin whose inquisitive
\nlooks at me from time to time
\nthinking he might be the one
\nto change the paradigm
\na little of the knowledge
\nwhich he very clearly knows
\nbut all he sees me doing
\nday and night is writing prose<\/p>\n
