Thoughtlessness is prevalent
\nFrom the law enforcement there
\nTo me its painstakingly obvious
\nThat the mayor is most unfair
\nThat a city with so many homeless
\nPeople should be awAre
\nOf those sleeping rough
\nWhich is very tough
\nFor the people that are there<\/p>\n
In this day and age
\nIts off the page
\nFor men and women to
\nTo be so lost in the scheme of things
\nAs to sleep rough as some do
\nIts not something that they want to do
\nAnd that law enforcement feel
\nIts right to come and take away their blankets
\nWith such zeal<\/p>\n
Sleeping bags and tents waterproofs
\nAnd shoes
\nIts disregard and uncaring
\nAnd I am sorry I refuse
\nTo accept discrimination
\nOn the evidence of need
\nWhere is the lateral thinking
\nYou would see your people bleed
\nThe sophistry apparent
\nIs an unreasoned point of view
\nDivesting folk of essentials
\nIs cruelty and few
\nWith a smidgeon of compassion
\nWould accept this rule of law
\nIts spiteful with the worst intentions
\nIts harassment and more<\/p>\n
For officers to do this
\nWithout question is to me
\nShowing that their training
\nLeads to impropriety
\nIt clearly messes with their heads
\nIts improper and its wrong
\nIt Is unforgivable
\nAnd should now not belong<\/p>\n
In any course of action
\nThese are homeless people they
\nNeed their blankets to keep them warm
\nWhen they are on the streets for they
\nIts totally disrespectful
\nAnd those who make such laws
\nAre the ones who should be sanctioned
\nFor not sorting out the cause<\/p>\n
There but for fortune all of us
\nCould find ourselves as these
\nPeople clearly down and out
\nAre being asked to freeze
\nIts despicable behaviour
\nAligned with treachery
\nWith being wholly wicked
\nTantamount to flagrancy<\/p>\n
I shall post this poem widely
\nOn twitter and let them see
\nWhat Denver does for its poorest
\nCares little obviously
\nAnd so the callous law enforcement
\nAre mindless pitiless fools
\nAs guilty as the day is long
\nSo brainwashed by these rules<\/p>\n
Tell your bosses that its wrong
\nIts misguided and you care
\nYou are not prepared for this evil stuff
\nThe programme is unfair
\nIt can only lead to deaths
\nAnd sadness for those Unfortunate few
\nAnd you would rather leave the job
\nThan do what they are telling you to<\/p>\n
