When you look back on real history
\nThe realization comes
\nNot from visiting the moon
\nBut the sound of native drums
\nThe wigwams by the river
\nThe bison herds who ran
\nThe wilderness was teeming

When harmony with nature
\nWas apparent everywhere
\nAnimals wild animals
\nThey were always there
\nThe wolf the bison and the bear

\nThen came our genocide<\/p>\n
Fuelled by greed and corporatism
\nThe tsunami wave
\nThat tore into the people
\nWho never knew a grave
\nThey were all just slaughtered
\nJust for being there
\nJust for being native to a place
\nAnd so aware<\/p>\n
That was the crime and The price they paid
\nFor caring about the land
\nFor caring about the river
\nWhich they did understand
\nLiving in the forest
\nProtecting all about
\nLiving close to nature
\nLiving without doubt<\/p>\n
The white man came his bible
\nFirmly in his hand
\nSinging about jesus
\nIn his mirror he looked grand
\nAll those awful people
\nThe wild souls of the plain
\nThey were a bunch of savages
\nSeen just as a drain<\/p>\n
On the new civilization
\nThat lived in towns and cared
\nThese savages in tribal places
\nThey should be running scared
\nAnd over the years were slaughtered
\nThe children sent away
\nTheir women raped and murdered
\nThe nations made to pay<\/p>\n
The wilderness was ruined
\nMoney the new god
\nTrees and oil and minerals
\nWere torn out of the sod
\nAnd now we see at standing rock
\nThe great Sioux people they
\nSaw DAPL coming for them
\nSo they made a stand to say<\/p>\n
We are the water deviners
\nThe protectors of the land
\nIf we come together we can try to understand
\nAt least give prayer and thought
\nTo why we need to protect the land
\nNot Run these filthy pipelines everywhere

This government are made up of
\nSheisters yes they are
\nIn it for what they get out of it
\nAnd the countryside they scar
\nWe are on reservations
\nAnd treaties have been lost
\nTheses corporates have bought the politicans

The rest of us our livelihoods
\nOur homes our countryside
\nLaws were changed to accomodate
\nEasements where they all lied
\nEminent domain was born where they steal our land
\nWe are ruled by corporations
\nThe flames of power are fanned<\/p>\n
By the brain dead heartless grey suits
\nThey are now everywhere
\nRigging their own elections
\nAnd promising despair
\nAnd now law enforcement
\nProtect the corporation
\nThe people are the terrorists
\nA subjugated nation<\/p>\n
We felt their rubber bullets
\nTheir water cannon hurt
\nWe felt the mace right in our face
\nWith our faces in the dirt
\nWe felt the pepper in our eyes
\nOur cries few though did hear
\nThe bean bag rounds the humvees
\nAnd the concerted fear<\/p>\n
Greed leads to more greed
\nHumanity is dying
\nCorporatism has taken charge
\nIt is death defying
\nStanding rock is standing still
\nDespite the wintry blast
\nDespite the lying oil men
\nWho were sure we couldnt last<\/p>\n
Its shareholders and board rooms
\nAnd banksters everywhere
\nIts darkness where there was always light
\nIts people who don’t care
\nThis is where we are alas
\nAnd we must use our power
\nFor there is strength in numbers
\nOf that now be aware<\/p>\n
Divest in all those corporate banks
\nSupporting corporate greed
\nTake your money away from them
\nLike vampires they do feed
\nBlood sucking darkly monsters
\nWho need to feel the pain
\nDivest and see them falter
\nFor they are the nations drain<\/p>\n
