\nDemonstrating our frustration
\nOur doubtfulness and obscurity
\nOf the human beings reasons to
\nLeave us in these vile enclosures
\nWe are not goldfish and what we do<\/p>\n
Is suspend our judgement for our dilemma
\nReally our fallibility
\nIs the way we are taken for granted
\nIts arguable that You should be
\nThe paradox of our submission
\nIts impulsive And we feel fright
\nBeing exposed To constant staring
\nArgueably it isnt right
\nWe great apes thats what you call us
\nBut it Feels like a misbelief
\nAn absurdity on every level
\nAnd we just cannot get relief<\/p>\n
Zoos are more for human beings
\nThan for us we have to say
\nWe feel like criminals being spied on
\nAlienated every day
\nWe are being persecuted and we do feel
\nAnd do perceive
\nReally on a deeper level
\nThat all of this is make believe<\/p>\n
Its really very disappointing
\nYou drain and thwart us at every turn
\nWe really cannot be ourselves
\nThere is nothing that we wish to learn
\nIts a falseness a deceit thats all
\nYou misrepresent which does appal
\nIts not a place that we want to be
\nThis is not a sanctuary<\/p>\n
Given the choice we would love to be
\nBack home climbing up some tree
\nIn the wilds Of a jungle space
\nWhere we can decide who sees our face
\nWhere there is a sufficiency of wild food
\nWhere we can forage where we are clued
\nUp on the seasons and what is there
\nThe great outpouring of things to share<\/p>\n
Rotten fruit tossed on the floor
\nSprayed with chemicals galore
\nThere is no time to just relax
\nTo just lie down upon our backs
\nTo clean our backsides as we ought do
\nWithout your laughter coming through
\nWe missing links believe that we
\nShould also live independently
\nMentally you are a bane
\nReally we all go insane
\nFull of nerves we rock about
\nWe are just in total doubt<\/p>\n
A German Zoo opens its doors to paying folk
\nBut closes its doors on the great apes
