The ants were swarming last night
\nAll around the Theatre Royal
\nJack Frost was in the roof tops
\nBeginning it felt to toil
\nFor he soon brought down
\nThe temperature
\nAnd increased the wind indeed
\nAnd drove us into the haven of the stalls
\nAt quite a speed<\/p>\n
Though not entirely welcomed
\nThe crimson curtains bold
\nWe sat enclosed in people
\nWho apparently all were sold
\nOn the programme for the evening
\nKatie Melua, she
\nEventually came out
\nClad in snow white
\nFor all to see<\/p>\n
SUpported by the Gori choir
\n23 ladies who
\nTwinkled in the bright lights
\nAnd shone the whole night through
\nWe were treated to a galaxy
\nOf Winter songs and grace
\nWe were in row F So close enough
\nTo see her face
\nEach song another guitar change
\nHer voice it heralds dawn
\nThe lighting got me going
\nTears were clearly torn
\nFrom me, it was all building
\nIt was yielding
\nAll through
\nBuffeted by the closeness
\nOf each seat
\nWhich was so true<\/p>\n
The first half was of Winter
\nA new staging a new set
\nThe second half some original songs
\nThe emotions that were let
\nLoose her family sitting
\nIn the boxes in the sky
\nClearly some were experiencing wetness
\nOf the eye
\nShe took command but still for me
\nSeemed overcome with timidity
\nSuch beautiful shyness apparently
\nBolstered by her Georgian memory<\/p>\n
Still in my heart the feeling was there
\nA subtle persuasion
\nA subliminal air
\nOf nostalgia possibly
\nAnd ardour too
\nOf the place of her birth
\nAnd the lure of the true,
\nA perfunctory encore
\nAnd two lovely songs
\nThe last one a bonus
\nWhich truly belongs
\nIn the heart of all hearts
\nIn the sensory sense
\nAnd a standing ovation
\nRapturously intense<\/p>\n

\nWe drifted away
\nThe cold breath of winter
\nBegan to play
\nOut on the street
\nOf old Drury Lane
\nBack in Jack Frosts
\nTerritory again<\/p>\n
Finding our car
\nThe restaurants all closing
\nThe Theatre Royal
\nI was supposing
\nWould have better staff
\nMore helpful more caring
\nGetting a drink or a snack
\nWas so wearing
\nThat was the sadness
\nThat was the shame
\nKatie I would’t go back there again<\/p>\n
The roundhouse it might have been
\nA railway shed
\nBut the staff there were marvellous
\nAnd that being said
\nThe atmosphere memorable
\nWhereas for me<\/p>\n
