A subtle swish of horror
\nOn a yuletide canvas where
\nA joyful picture is unrolled
\nFor all of us to share
\nA father in the garden
\nErecting the trampoline
\nnot without some difficulty
\nBut we see the coming scene<\/p>\n
Whereupon the local wild life
\nDiscover that its there
\nTwo foxes and a badger
\nAll very much aware
\nA squirrel and a hedgehog
\nThe wild souls of the wood
\nHave all come by to try it out
\nAnd, just feel how good<\/p>\n
It is to share the bounty
\nThe beauty and the beast
\nInside the boxer dog observes
\nThe famine and the feast
\nAn advertising agency
\nEncroaching on the mind
\nNot coming necessarily from a safe place
\nUnderlined
\nThe fantasy of animals
\nBut omit to really feel
\nThe urgency of the sentience
\nThough not altogether real<\/p>\n
The sensation they created
\nThe responsiveness is how
\nA pet dog tuned to others
\nWill express the now
\nHis effusiveness and fervour
\nWhen he gets the chance to see
\nAnd he too tries the trampoline
\nImagining he is free<\/p>\n
To do this but the child behind
\nWatches surprisingly
\nAs do her parents watching her
\nAnd what they fail to see
\nIs the arrogance of the message
\nTwo foxes from a farm
\nRaised we hear by hunters
\nAnd a badger too so calm
\nAnd all the other wild ones
\nWe have to clear the fog
\nOf what is expectation
\nAnd Christmas sales, agog<\/p>\n
With this feral activity
\nThe message that we see
\nIs Foxes and a Badger abused
\nwith alacrity
\nThe source it seems apparently
\nA producer who Supplies
\nwine and has kennels on the site
\nThe home of a local hunt
\nI do surmise<\/p>\n
So what is its real message
\nIs it just fantasy
\nA charming little yuletide tale
\nOf giving joyfully
\nAnd by so doing then provide
\nTwo fox cubs from the farm
\nThat is involved in hunting foxes
\nSo I dont feel that calm<\/p>\n
And rightly how are foxes hunted
\nThough illegal maybe so
\nBut the hounds will tear the souls apart
\nAs everyone does know
\nOr the trapper will come hither
\nAnd hide his traps around
\nTo torture and maim the wild fox
\nThat will then be fur coat bound<\/p>\n
And the same farm then is willing
\nTo shoot the badgers who
\nIts alleged will cause the cows to be
\nSick the cull its true
\nSo the use is made of these animals
\nWho are tortured and are killed
\nIn a blaze of CHristmas joyousness
\nWe are numbed as their blood is spilled<\/p>\n
It demonstrates an ignorance
\nA stupor far and wide
\nAn indifference for the wilder souls
\nAn unresponsive slide
\nInto the irrepressible
\nA general frame of mind
\nSo tempered and now moulded
\nOf those Watching from behind<\/p>\n
It glosses over reality
\nThe doleful sense of loss
\nWhat is the criminality
\nThe shame it just does toss
\nIt into a great fantasy
\nOf the gifted trampoline
\nAnd of what all these adverts are for
\nFor the corporate machine<\/p>\n
Planning out each strategy
\nCreating figures to
\nTop other competitors
\nFor thats what it must do
\nBut who you use and who they are
\nAnd how they quantify
\nWhat they do and how they think
\nWhether their reasons why<\/p>\n
The tenderness the melting mood
\nThe festivities abroad
\nThe unrepining ministry
\nThat all can now afford
\nThe serious loss of consciousness
\nSurrounding our furry friends
\nWho have a depth of feeling
