A grey mist had descended
\nHand fasted with the sky
\nAnd icy rain kept falling
\nDown on us from on high
\nIt really was uncomfortable
\nWith a wind chill that was raw
\nIt really did cut me in half
\nWhen I opened my car door<\/p>\n
It was blow your hair all over day
\nAnd soak your trousers through
\nWhen Dave brought in his
\nGrate and wood
\nFire making for to do
\nDespite the wind despite the rain
\nHis expertise it shone
\nAnd the fire Kept burning all the time
\nTill all of us were gone<\/p>\n
The love and care that goes into
\nEach celebratory event
\nAll that enthusiasm
\nIt really is well spent
\nAs is the expectation
\nWhen everyone was here
\nThe rain it petered out
\nAnd the mist began to clear<\/p>\n
I never really understand
\nHow blessed we are to see
\nOur two hours conjuring up
\nA scene of tranquility
\nA motley crew of masked souls
\nNot one of them the same
\na goodly number braved the storm
\nancestors and Fae they came<\/p>\n
Veronica she called for Peace
\nand then described Samhain
\nHow ancestors were now inside
\nWith everything to gain
\nThe wind though it was bitter
\nWe felt that cold embrace
\nMany lost the feeling in their feet
\nAnd in their face
\nWe listened to the blessings
\nAnd watched the open veil
\nAnd felt the expectation
\nAnd the impact of the tale<\/p>\n
The witches danced the broomstick
\nBirch twigs on an ash stake
\nAnd An osier binding we were finding
\nThe besoms always make
\nA handy tool for cleaning
\nAnd flying on at night
\nBeing closer to the moon
\nIt is such a delight<\/p>\n
The food was blessed
\nAnd given
\nAnd in the period I
\nReminded Everybody there
\nOf that energy from the sky
\nOf all that authenticity
\nThe ancestors now here
\nAnd others that would join us
\nFor the thinning veil
\nBrought cheer<\/p>\n
I read it quite light heartedly
\nAnd then the moon we saw
\nIt had been hidden obviously
\nBut now it shone for sure
\nthe speaking stick was offered
\nAnd around the ring did go
\nThe light descended rapidly
\nAnd to me it felt like snow<\/p>\n
Within the circle actually
\nSeemingly at peace
\nEverybody’s energy
\nAnd the buffeting did cease
\nseveral of our friends remarked
\nOn the Autumn colours they
\nHad noticed on the roadsides
\nAs they had come in today<\/p>\n
Really amazing colours
\nUnfading and constant hues
\nVariegated and displayed
\nIntense really good news
\nDelicate sober evergreens
\nWeathered mellow gold
\nThe Amber and the copper
\nAnd the umber all seemed rolled
\nInto one great landscape
\nThe flush the blush the glow
\nOf madder and of dragons blood
\nWith celadon you know
\nThat beautiful cadmium yellow
\nHenna and tangerine
\nA kaleidoscope of wonder
\nMade up Autumn’s Magic scene<\/p>\n
Then we had the Druids prayer
\nAnd fed the fire so we
\nRemember warriors remember ancestors
\nRemembered all who be
\nDave was feeding kindling
\nTo the fire all through and he
\nManaged to keep it burning
\nIn the centre constantly<\/p>\n
All those burning embers
\nThe different coloured flames
\nBrought back all those memories
\nAnd we added all the names
\nOf ancestors who clearly
\nHad stopped by for a while
\nAnd salt and honey
\nAnd loving thoughts
\nTo help us reconcile<\/p>\n
At that moment what I realised
\nthe trees around us were
\nReally being subjected to
\nA pounding to infer
\nSome magical conclusion
\nReally had to be
\nFor it was very peaceful
\nIn the circle actually<\/p>\n
The Druids prayer
\nRead in the dark
\nHO HO HO And we
\nWatched our breath sail
\nUpwards for everyone to see
\nThen sparklers were lit
\nOur childhood memories Engaged
\nAnd again the trees were
\nWere taking stick
\nFrom the wind clearly enraged<\/p>\n
The quarters closed we made our way
\nIn pitch black darkness
\nAnd again I say
\nThe wind was really hammering hard
\nCertainly this aged bard
\nFelt perplexed by the energy
\nThat undoubtedly had purposely<\/p>\n
Allowed us All a peaceful spell
\nOur resident moles too had done well
\nAll their hills were fresh and high
\nAnd within the stones and that’s no lie
\nSo all in all a cheerful time
\nBraving the cold and my rhyme
\nJoyful it was a special day
\nDespite the cold I have to say<\/p>\n
Old friends new friends came to be
\nPart of our circle of constancy
\nLanterns glowing candle light
\nCordiality alright
