The Cotswold Order of Druids met
\nAt the Greedy Goose the day was set
\nFair and crisp, for a good retreat
\nAt A warm and friendly place to eat
\nAbove was a blue and dappled sky
\nAnd mercifully the day was dry
\nJust A few miles from the ROll Right Stones
\nA really great place to rest ones bones<\/p>\n
Excellent ale and food as well
\nThe service was good it just seemed to gel
\nIt was relaxed and happy too
\nWith an intimacy that was good and true
\nJust up a few stairs to an area where
\nWe got some privacy and we could share
\nOur stories really and truly just be
\nRelaxed which allowed some constancy<\/p>\n
Positive energy and hearty fayre
\nNothing stage managed relaxed and aware
\nOf why we were there, and what it all meant
\n21 years together they’d spent
\nIt was a sojourn back in time
\nRemembering the people and what a climb
\nInto the now how It all fell in place
\nBut It was delightful to just retrace<\/p>\n
The characters really who set us fair
\nA coming together of like minds where
\nwith nurturing and supportive souls
\nCarrying out their respective roles<\/p>\n
Crickly Hill and the old Beech Tree
\nIt was there that many a ceremony
\nWas carried out then ROLL Rights where we
\nAnd Stone Henge and Clear well came to be
\nIt was friendly and peaceful and jocular too
\nand very enjoyable really all through
\nYou just could relax in the company there
\nAnd breathe it all in and just be aware<\/p>\n
Of those who had helped build the order
\nHow they
\nBy their combined efforts
\nGave us today
\nReally an order of meaningful friends
\nIn tune with the cosmos and the message it sends
\nWe all left to meet up again at Roll Rights
\nA beautiful crisp day with myriad lights
\nOf Autumn around us, the sky dappled blue
\nAnd the leaves on the trees were of every hue<\/p>\n
Mead it was flowing the rich honey sweet
\nAnd all sorts of musical instruments greet
\nThe peace of the stones,as we each took our piece
\nAnd really made merry it was our release
\nOur spirited music rose into the sky
\nDidgeridoo’s drums and whistles were why
\nA coming together of exuberant thought
\nMaking our music with a splendour of sort<\/p>\n
Inner child energy soared into the sky
\nAcross the stones where the great mole hills high
\nRhythm and beat diatonic and all
\nCacophonous splendour we all had a ball
\nWhat did it matter releasing were we
\nOut in the air with the will to be free
\nPlaying catch we were innocent dancers in time
\nWith our flutes and our pitch pipes the soft sounds
\ncould climb<\/p>\n
And somehow for some reason the sky became
\nBluer and bluer our eternal flame
\nOf lots of old Druids reliving their past
\nRemembering childhood and what had been cast
\nIt was our spell to invoke inspiration
\nWe danced and we ran with music in motion
\nit was unscripted and of course off the cuff
\nBut we all came together until
\nwe’d all had enough<\/p>\n
More mead and a circle and the Druids prayer
\nAs our combined breaths
\nsailed into the air
\nIt really felt good as we hugged
\nFor we knew
\nSamhain on the 6th of Novemer
\nWhich drew
\nUs all to recount the thinning of the veil
\nAnd to all bring our head lamps
\nAnd make a light trail<\/p>\n
With sparklers and lanterns
\nAnd torches and tapers
\nDave with his fire
\nAnd his myriad capers
\nHopefully we would have a cloudless sky
\nWith the moon full of gold
\nWhere the beasties could fly
\nOur circle of head lights
\nMight glow and abound
\nTo welcome all ancestors
\nOn this hallowed ground<\/p>\n
