The history of knowing
\nAncestors died for you
\nThat plays on your psyche
\nWhat else can we do
\nThe finality of terror
\nBacked up by evil force
\nCreation stolen mercilessly
\nPurged really at source<\/p>\n
The stridor of each moment
\nThe cannon fire and more
\nThe brazen hearted men in blue
\nSmashing down your door
\nGrannies holding babies
\nSquaws choking on blood
\nThe village being ransacked
\nAnd the clamour of the flood<\/p>\n
The memories of yesterday year
\nThe discord and the pain
\nBeing raped and strangled
\nThen being raped again
\nA darkness that so penetrates
\nThe dungeon that had been
\nHome for an eternity
\nTheir blankness was obscene<\/p>\n
The insanity of thinking
\nThese people were no good
\nthe idiocy of government
\nBeing misunderstood
\nThere was a mass psychosis
\nTheir oblivion was true
\nThey were all unmindful
\nOf what they ought to do<\/p>\n
And the Indians were slaughtered
\nEvery single one
\nCut down by a cutlass
\nWhat had those poor souls done
\nLived a life of sharing
\nAnd caring for the soil
\nLoving the wild planet
\nTheir lives were utter toil<\/p>\n
They really had the foresight
\nTo protect and work a way
\nTo live aside the animals
\nAnd make their wildness pay
\nThey had the imagination
\nInspired they were to be
\nRhapsodic and poetic
\nWith the little they could see<\/p>\n
Affirming every challenge
\nWith their solemn guarantee
\nTruth for them was everything
\nIt’s how you had to be
\nIt was a hard life surely
\nBut surely life could be
\nA worthwhile journey to their goal
\nTo live in harmony<\/p>\n
And now what we are seeing
\nIs the tribes once more at war
\nWith a pipeline with a great black snake
\nThat is spitting at their core
\nAnd the impassioned fury
\nLocked in all their hearts
\nHas been brought to the surface
\nAll these fits and starts<\/p>\n
From the corporate world of energy
\nThe lifeless arrogant lot
\nTheir barbarism evident
\nThe unrestraint they have got
\nA molesting of the innocent
\nTheir vulgarity is there
\nThey have stage set all the drama
\nAnd for people they don’t care<\/p>\n
Water land and reservations
\nSacredness just words
\nThis is a corporate giant
\nAway with the birds
\nUnwilling to cooperate
\nNo stomach for all this
\nFractious and uncooperative
\nThey are taking the piss<\/p>\n
With indigenous people everywhere
\nWho are resolute and strong
\nThey possess the determination
\nThey know really how wrong
\nTheir constancy of unfairness
\nAnd the ruthlessness they saw
\nThey are unflinching and tenacious
\nThey will endure and then some more<\/p>\n
And so we have the stand off
\nThe incorrigibility
\nThe wrongheadedness of the government
\nSo much severity
\nUnbending obscurantists
\nIn posts where they shouldn’t be
\nUp against the natural souls
\nFrom all of history<\/p>\n
The call has gone out
\nnationwide
\nThe drums have beaten loud
\nAll the tribes are coming
\nThe evil it has soured
\nHearts and minds from every corner
\nOf this planet they
\nThe indigenous are coming
\nThis is to be the day<\/p>\n
When the ancestors are present
\nWhen hearts and minds agree
\nEveryone is of one voice
\nThe dark iniquity
\nOf stealing through our sacred land
\nThe black snake filled with crude
\nThe diabolical sputum we know it will exude<\/p>\n
It’s a virulence and it’s noxious
\nAn arrant case of guilt
\nEveryone is angry for the blood
\nThat once was spilt
\nIt brings it back to everyone
\nNow standing that they must
\nStand together shoulder to shoulder
\nAgainst what is unjust<\/p>\n
Their future is at risk here
\nTheir water pure and clean
\nThe Missouri River it is there
\nWhere it has always been
\nTo see a deterioration
\nOf such a true supply
\nBecause of crude oil profits
\nOf course they all ask why<\/p>\n
Their remedy is simple
\nThe corporate must stay
\nTo violate their sacred land
\nNo ones prepared to pay
\nIt’s perilous it’s hazardous
\nThe risks are far too high
\nAnd there is no room for compromise
\nUnderneath the sky<\/p>\n
They are camped now in their thousands
\nResistance is the key
\nUp to Now it’s peaceful
\nBut with corporate security
\nThere have been minor clashes
\nDogs used so we know
\nThe corporate world is a heartless hell
\nSo tensions can only grow<\/p>\n
This is some confrontation
\nInsurrectional I ‘d say
\nThey all are charged with history
\nAnd are unyielding and will pay
\nAny price to stop all this
\nAnd confront the monster here
\nThis is all about true honour
\nIn an,arena of fear<\/p>\n
We are all indigenous of somewhere so we must stand
\nWith them against the corporate and stop them once and for all<\/p>\n
