Some say they are poker faces
\nThen what we see
\nBehind those big eyes
\nIs the will to stay free
\nAlone they know quietness
\nUnruffled I’d say
\nDown at the waters edge
\nMost of the day<\/p>\n
After the salmon
\nFresh rich and raw
\nA mean locomotion
\nLike never before
\nFlashing up stream
\nCaught on the claw
\nTorn at and swallowed
\nAnd waiting for more<\/p>\n
The vivification
\nAll the vital force
\nThey stand there in awe
\nAs Matter of coarse
\nTheir way is deliberate
\nThey are mighty strong
\nWith a great heavy coat
\nShowing where they belong<\/p>\n
Wilderness watchers
\nGrowling away
\nWhen they stand on their hind legs
\nThey have something to say
\nThey emanate fury
\nA vision alone
\nInquisitorial
\nAs if they had known<\/p>\n
You in a past life
\nThen doubting that too
\nThe truth of the matter
\nThey know what to do
\nInstinctive knowledge
\nPacked into their brain
\nThey have been there before
\nAnd will be there again<\/p>\n
A bit of a sage
\nIn perilous way
\nThought to be foolish
\nBut hunters can pay
\nFor missing the language
\nThe great bear puts out
\nFor his expectations
\nAre riddled with doubt<\/p>\n
For his size he can canter
\nAnd is crushing and strong
\nLives to find honey
\nHe cannot go wrong
\nWith all of the stickiness
\nHe just loves sweet
\nAnd is seen as ungrateful
\nOn account of his feet<\/p>\n
He can be obstinate
\nA determined soul
\nIt’s best to not cross him
\nFor he knows his role
\nHe has his habits
\nHe knows his place
\nAnd when you get close to him
\nYou can see his face<\/p>\n
Some say he is evil
\nHe was just born that way
\nHe is the master
\nOf his display
\nHe is where he was put
\nHe seldom goes far
\nAnd wherever you camp
\nHe knows where you are<\/p>\n
The Grizzly Bear
\nIs a beautiful soul
\nDesigned to perfection
\nHe plays his role
\nIn the great drama of life
\nOut and beyond
\nThe hunter the trapper
\nWho nobody!s fond<\/p>\n
Of come with their bait
\nWith their guns and deceit
\nMany are smelly beaver tails beat
\nFor they are all rancid and terribly high
\nJust the stuff bears like
\nWhich of course is why
\nThey often get ambushed
\nChewing away
\nBears like their stomachs
\nMost people say<\/p>\n
So called trophy hunters
\nLike to shoot bear
\nWith their bows and their rifles
\nSport it’s never fair
\nThese would be murderers
\nFor that’s all they are
\nCome in with their 4×4’s
\nReady to star<\/p>\n
In their very own movie
\nOn you tube maybe
\nShooting a bear
\nPropped up we can see
\nHow many shots nobody knows
\nA green horn who paid
\nAs the debacle shows<\/p>\n
They have made a film
\nAnd it’s coming along
\n“Trophy” it’s called
\nHead hunting so wrong
\nWe have to protect them
\nTheir habitats too
\nAnd really and honestly
\nno more in the zoo<\/p>\n
Wild is their kingdom
\nThat’s where they be
\nUnder the stars
\nWhere the storm wind blows free
\nWe are their problem
\nWe are their foe
\nIf they are to survive
\nThen we have to go<\/p>\n
Away from their habitat
\nLeave them alone
\nBan all this hunting
\nAnd trapping it’s shown
\nIn the wilderness Bears
\nCan exist happily
\nIf they are just left alone
