The elephant
\nGreat pachyderm Of this day
\nWith tusks that creation
\nThought to allay
\nWhat would be problematical
\nWithout simple tools
\nBut of course failed to account
\nFor the most corrupt of
\nfools<\/p>\n
The local people
\nThe Government who
\nTook on their power
\nTo do what they wanted to
\nAs such they lacked conscience
\nAnd insincerity
\nSinking, into crime
\nAnd complicity<\/p>\n
In practical terms
\nSuch racketeering
\nSuch faithlessness
\nThe betrayal of steering
\nA course into betrayal of good
\nInto double dealing
\nJust feeling they could<\/p>\n
And those great tusks
\nOf Ivory hard as the rock
\nWorth their weight in gold
\nAs such could be sold
\nIn the shadows of power
\nWhere the illicit flower
\nWhere the unscrupulous flourish
\nAnd the great shameless tower<\/p>\n
It only seems right
\nTo go with the flow
\nNot to be squeamish
\nLet the bank balance grow
\nSafe in the knowledge
\nThat if I do not do
\nWhat I like in this job
\nOthers will view<\/p>\n
Me as the fool
\nFor my warrant was vast
\nIt’s not an affront
\nWhen my Net I can cast
\nPeople respect me
\nHave reverence for
\nMe I am powerful
\nLike never before<\/p>\n
So what’s a few elephants
\nNothing they say
\nWhat’s sacrilegious about it
\nA way
\nOf being respected
\nAnd getting what’s right
\nAnd a few little wrongs
\nIf kept out of sight<\/p>\n
Do not harm anyone
\nThat’s how they feel
\nAddicted to crime
\nAnd of course they conceal
\nThe cruelty aspect
\nThe caustic control
\nThe unloving uncaring
\nLoss of their soul<\/p>\n
And as time passes
\nGreed and some more
\nMore victims perish
\nMore blood and gore
\nLies told and more lies
\nThat’s what we see
\nMore elephants perish
\nSuch hostility<\/p>\n
And then we get caught
\nSomeone dobs us in
\nThats when we realise
\nThat we did sin
\nThat’s when the shit hits the fan
\nSo to say
\nThat’s when we lose it
\nThat’s when we pay<\/p>\n
But out in the shadows
\nThe elephant clan
\nMany have perished
\nSince we began
\nThey died some were poisoned
\nDying in pain
\nSome were chopped up
\nAgain and again
\nThese evil men
\nMust be rooted out
\nAnd strung up
