circus really curiously
\nInstalled it’s clowns
\nHair raisingly
\nThe intermission
\nBetween acts, their ploy
\nTo entertain
\nBut not overjoy
\nThey came of age
\nWith their talents raised
\nWith their masks and antics
\nThat amazed
\nChildren with their wacky stuff
\nBut they were sinister
\nWhich for me was rough<\/p>\n
I believe they were there
\nTo raise a smile
\nBut sadly trying to reconcile
\nTheir place, their face
\nAnd their pace to me
\nThey never really
\nwere that funny.<\/p>\n
Frightening yes
\nYes they frightened me
\nWith their ugly teeth
\nWhat I could see
\nAs a child I was
\nI never felt assured
\nBy the painted clowns
\nNor overawed
\nBy their modus operandi
\nReally For they
\nWere not my favourite act
\nLet’s say<\/p>\n
A painted face often means to me
\nThat inside that mask
\nA prisoner be
\nHis tragedy his sadness he
\nCries and is mournful actually
\nHis countenance shows a tragic air
\nAnd despite the slapstick
\nI was aware<\/p>\n
Of the negative thrust
\nOf the frightening who
\nDidn’t make me laugh
\nAs they were supposed to do
\nThey did not appeal
\nIn fact to see
\nClowns
\nthey actually frightened me<\/p>\n
I was apprehensive at ever turn
\nThey gave me the jitters
\nAnd much concern
\nAn air of dread
\nOf abject fear
\nWhen ever one
\nTried to get near<\/p>\n
More the bogeyman for me
\nThe intimidator actually
\nAppalled was I, in my childish way
\nNot something I wanted to see
\nThat day
\nAnd even now all these years on
\nMy blood runs cold
\nAnd not till they are gone
\nDo I return to a better state
\nFor circus clowns I do note rate<\/p>\n
And now there’s a spate
\nOf these curious souls
\nAll over the world
\nTheir peculiar goals
\nAppear to be sinister
\nSo others feel
\nThe trepidation
\nIt is it’s real<\/p>\n
They are a direful bunch
\nMacabre I’d say
\nThose true child thoughts
\nOf such dismay
\nIt’s intimidation
\nIt brings back fear
\nOnes blood runs cold
