\nWith Incautiousness was going to make
\nIt’s journey through great sacred sites
\nIndigenous lands where indigenous rites
\nWhere mindful regard had been set in stone
\nThe probity that they all had known
\nThe conscience and scrupulosity
\nThe ownership so thoroughly
\nrecorded in the Souls of those

Would not give up their rights

\nTo want a pipeline through their land
\nA great black Monster snake
\nWhose hand
\nCommands such evil
\nAnd threatens to
\nEngulf their spirit

It’s brinkmanship
\nAs the records show
\nThat pipeline fractures
\nAs well we know
\nRivers and soil
\nAre torn a’sunder
\nBy the way that we do plunder
\nThe last 5 years have seen 80 die
\nAnd hundreds were injured

\nWith this crude oil
\nand gas
\nIt so does make my blood boil<\/p>\n
And the energy companies
\nLie of course
\nAll of them are out in force
\nSecurity men with their dogs
\nAssail
\nWomen and children out on the trail
\nThe pipeline is dangerous
\nAnd the standing rock know
\nThat’s why the tribes
\nHave begun to grow<\/p>\n
It’s their land their burial sites
\nAnd they must
\nProtect their water
\nYou cannot drink dust
\nNor toxic waste
\nWe all must breathe air
\nThe tribes they are right

\nWith one great fear

So disillusioned by history, they
\nAll have been thwarted and made to pay
\nClearly crestfallen feeling let down
\nForewarned of the prophecy
\nThe deceptive crown
\nFalsity bad faith and mendacity
\nMuch double dealing
\nAround them they see
\nDoublecrossed and betrayed
\nThroughout history<\/p>\n
They have made up their minds
\nThis camp is to be
\nWhere they will stay
\nAnd the great Missouri
\nWill be the stand off
\nWill be the place
\nWhere the great nation tribes
\nWill show one great face<\/p>\n
Affirming their stature
\nEmphatically so
\nWith determination
\nTo stay in the flow
\nWith such concentration
\nAnd staying power
\nThey will fight for what’s right
\nAnd no matter how<\/p>\n
They are endangered
\nBy threats or by war
\nThey are protected
\nNo one should ignore
\nTheir resolve on this issue
\nTheir citadel
\nFor running away
\nWould just take them to Hell<\/p>\n
Pure pacification
\nTheir kind of detente
\nEach has an olive branch
\nReally they can’t
\nGo back to their homes
\nUntil this matters solved
\nTill they reach a conclusion
\nAnd feel evolved<\/p>\n
Free born free bred
\nAutarkic they be
\nThey are done with subjection
\nAnd slavery
\nThis is their moment
\nThis makes a great play
\nThis black snake must never
