Sir Ranulph Fiennes the explorer
\nBorn in WIndsor he
\nWas a British Army Officer
\nOne year younger than me<\/p>\n
The spirit of adventure
\nHas always been his flair
\nLife and equilibrium
\nOf all this he is aware<\/p>\n
Up the Nile by Hovercraft
\nAnd to glaciers In Norway
\nThe Trans Globe expedition
\nA real man so to say<\/p>\n
Caring of environments
\nWith a great affection for
\nThe wildlife all around us
\nJust outside our door<\/p>\n
That sentience and sensation
\nThat understanding that
\nThe emotion and devotion
\nOf the wild ones who are at<\/p>\n
One with him completely
\nHe travels and he knows
\nThe wealth that is in other species
\nUnderneath our nose<\/p>\n
He went to the Tory Conference
\nAnd talked of the hunting ban
\nTalked about a fox he knew
\nAnd, why he began<\/p>\n
To think about the hunting act
\nIn his home a refuge where
\nWild animals are welcome
\nIn his sanctuary to share<\/p>\n
The safety and the loving
\nThat he and his family hold
\nFor all the worlds wild. creatures
\nFor on them he is sold<\/p>\n
He spoke of the plight of foxes
\nWith three hunts not that far
\nFrom his home and so a dwelling place
\nAnd knowing tnat they are<\/p>\n
Close he builds his fences
\nAnd bushes high and strong
\nTo stop the hunters coming
\nFor he believes they are wrong<\/p>\n
The barbarity of hunting with hounds
\nHe knows he sees
\nHunting dogs go after foxes
\nHe feels that in his knees<\/p>\n
The unfairness of the chase
\nThe catching up and he
\nTalked of a vixen he had known
\nWho was bitten so badly<\/p>\n
He had called the vet
\nAnd left food out
\nWith antibiotics for he
\nThought infection could set in
\nAnd it did so tragically <\/p>\n
So despite all of his efforts
\nThat vixen she did die
\nCame around to be near his home
\nin comfort she did lie<\/p>\n
He spoke up for the wild souls
\nAnd the hunting act must be
\nNever repealed in England
\nFor few now wish to see<\/p>\n
This barbarity a forethought
\nThis evil some call sport
\nThis ignorance of wild souls
\nAnd arrogance of thought<\/p>\n
What an absolute gentleman
\nWho takes the stand to say
\nTheresa May should never repeal
\nThe hunting act for to pay<\/p>\n
That price on these green hills
\nAnd dales just would be a sin
\nHere is a man an English man
\nWho wants the fox to win<\/p>\n
To realise that little soul
\nTook some six days to die
\nCurled up in a ball she was
\nUnder the blue sky<\/p>\n
No doubt crying outwardly
\nAs the infection bore
\nThough her vibrant spirit
\nTil she was no more<\/p>\n
To grieve perchance to realise
\nEach little soul has worth
\nIt comes out of creation
\nTo share our precious earth<\/p>\n
To live wild and respectful lives
\nIn earths along the way
\nWho we must never interfere or harm
\nAnd never make them pay<\/p>\n
The beauty and the brilliance
\nAnd true nobility
\nOf watching wild folk live their lives
\nWhich they all do glamorously<\/p>\n
To catch sight of a crimson brush
\nOr watch a butterfly
\nOr hear the Owls a hooting
\nOf the red kites in the sky<\/p>\n
Weaving rolling through the clouds
\nIt’s eyes set on the ground
\nThese are the sights to care about
\nNot the running of the hound<\/p>\n
