\nthey began whaling
\nlong finned pilot whales
\nis what they caught
\n“grindalap” means whale
\nslaughter in Faroese
\nand anyone can take part
\nand they’ve taught<\/p>\n
each other, how to drive
\nthe creatures to the shore
\nand cut them up
\nfor that is how its done
\nbabies, pregnant females
\ntorn a’sunder, for them
\nit just appears, well so much fun<\/p>\n
the kid’s crowd round
\nand poke and scratch their bodies
\nthe babies are pulled out
\nand thrown away
\nno respect for life
\nIts just despicable
\nDon’t tell me this is culture
\nwhen they pay<\/p>\n
so a high price,
\nthese souls
\nwho swim the ocean
\nbrutal the behaviour of the few
\norange trousers we don’t want to notice
\nyellow jackets,we are sick of you<\/p>\n
I’d hide away if I were you
\nnot let the camera’s roll
\nwhilst you are bending tearing out
\nanother little soul.
\nI know the land is rocky and you must
\nlive on fish,
\nbut how you catch
\nand kill these pilot whales
\nwell I just wish<\/p>\n
It was not, with such brutality
\nwithout respect for life
\nin front of children
\nencouraging them to also
\nuse their knife
\nto witness all this hacking
\nthis vile distraught attacking
\nof a handsome soul who really
\nshould still be
\nin the wide blue ocean
\nwith all its family members
\ninstead its lying dead for all to see<\/p>\n
these poor souls packed
\nwith mercury and other
\nvile imaginings
\nare cut up
\nand are eaten, sadly they
\nwill pass this rotten toxin
\nto your people and time alone
\nwill determine when they pay
\nmercury is very very toxic
\nand man of course,
\nmust now be sorry for
\nhe so pollutes the ocean
\nwith muck that he unloads
\nand that that will taint
\ntheir flesh for evermore<\/p>\n
50,000 or so live and die there
\nthe collective psyche seemingly to be
\nthe culture and tradition is of whaling
\nthe bulk of what they eat comes from the sea
\nair dried lamb and sea birds and potatoes
\nappear to be the food that they like best
\nand whale meat packed with mercury
\nis apparently
\ntheir favourite food and in it
\nthey invest<\/p>\n
time and patience cutting, drying, freezing
\nand cooking, and no doubt the mercury
\nwill kill the old consumers rather quicker
\nthan they’d like
\nand if that’s the outcome, well it has to be
\nthe law of karma catches those who cross her
\nman pollutes the ocean with his muck
\nman then kills the predators, that have absorbed
\nhis garbage
\nand really folk have had their share of luck<\/p>\n
The poor old Pilot Whales I suppose go through it
\nevery year the pods will have to be
\nslaughtered by these people who really don’t know better
