A ripe old Beech,
\na noble soul,
\nnow looks the worse for wear its role,
\nwas once of sacredness
\nAnd so now,
\nit’s all fenced off I wonder how,
\nIt feels alone tired and sick,
\nnobody comes it’s nuts to pick
\nit’s leaves to ponder over, it,
\nis old and failing and far from fit.
\nits branches splayed around its feet
\nAutumn is coming and it must compete
\nwith the other trees it will lose its leaves and of course be bare
\nand for one so noble it’s hardly fair.<\/p>\n
