{"id":29753,"date":"2016-10-08T08:01:27","date_gmt":"2016-10-08T08:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=29753"},"modified":"2016-10-08T08:15:27","modified_gmt":"2016-10-08T08:15:27","slug":"medieval-pots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2016\/10\/medieval-pots\/","title":{"rendered":"Medieval pots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The art of making medieval ceramics<br \/>\nCaught my eye<br \/>\nThe restoration of ancient skills<br \/>\nAnd now we can apply<br \/>\nThe simple things around us<br \/>\nWithout the need to use<br \/>\nModern applications<br \/>\nReally how to fuse<\/p>\n<p>The art of skill and patience<br \/>\nWith common river clay<br \/>\nWater and manure<br \/>\nIs pounded in a way<br \/>\nBy the feet of the artisan<br \/>\nFor 4o minutes he<br \/>\nMixes up the ingredients<br \/>\nWith his dance as we can see<\/p>\n<p>Get some granite clippings<br \/>\nMix for half an hour<br \/>\nMake a wheel a simple potters wheel<br \/>\nAnd Use your power<\/p>\n<p>Gentle as you mould the clay<br \/>\nAnd add the sausage lengths<br \/>\nAnd gradually build up the pot<br \/>\nUsing all your strengths<br \/>\nGently demonstrating<br \/>\nThe elasticity<br \/>\nAnd forming a real lovely pot<br \/>\nFor anyone to see<\/p>\n<p>A tinder fire is started<br \/>\nSome wood and some charcoal<br \/>\nGet it really white hot<br \/>\nAnd place the pots<br \/>\nThe role<br \/>\nof fire will bake<br \/>\nThe natural clay and harden it<br \/>\n2 hours and 40 minutes<br \/>\nGives it that true feel<br \/>\nMaybe it is archaic but<br \/>\nIt is very real<\/p>\n<p>All done by hand<br \/>\nAnd outside in the forest maybe where<br \/>\nIt was healthy it was gentle<br \/>\nBreathing natural air<br \/>\nWorking with light and patience<br \/>\nBuilding up the skill<br \/>\nAnd all done without<br \/>\nCompromising energy<br \/>\nThe will<\/p>\n<p>To do this and see the results<br \/>\nHas a lot of meaning for we<br \/>\nCan do these things<br \/>\nAnd awaken the art<br \/>\nAnd that is key<br \/>\nWhich truly brings<br \/>\nA greater satisfaction<br \/>\nInto this present day<br \/>\nFor we can make our own pots<br \/>\nAnd the planet doesn&#8217;t pay<\/p>\n<p>Reviving ancient crafts<br \/>\nIs good<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s curative and healing<br \/>\nIt liberates in many ways<br \/>\nAnd, it is revealing<br \/>\nTalents that you had<br \/>\nAnd can develop<br \/>\nMore each day<br \/>\nTo revive and repair<br \/>\nAnd to be aware<br \/>\nOf your own skills<br \/>\nThat will pay.
