We come upon two brothers
\n2 years old they be
\nThe Okavango delta
\nIn wild Botswana we
\nRealise the Okavango river
\nIt is where
\nA great tectonic plate appears
\nIn a basis
\nthey all share<\/p>\n
In the Endoheic basin
\nOf the kalahari they
\nUnder some fantastic skies
\nAre coming through each day
\nLearning from the females
\nWho hunt and catch the food
\nA place to learn their hunting skills
\nAnd their fortitude<\/p>\n
The kind of food they are after
\nAre the Buffalo so strong
\nFive times the weight of a Lioness
\nSo no one can get it wrong
\nA young calf or an old bull
\nIs what they are looking for
\nAnd the ambush must be well timed
\nFor the whole thing to be sure<\/p>\n
It is about good judgement
\nBecause the Buffalo they too
\nProtect each other when they can
\nWith kinship good and true
\nThey fight back and they are massive
\nPowerful to a tee
\nVery bold and spirited
\nWith a lot of energy<\/p>\n
The lions must work in tandem
\nOne to strangle they
\nMust watch the horns and watch the hooves
\nAnd get out of the way
\nThey have to try and get the Buffalo down
\nAnd on its back
\nand stop it calling others
\nTo mount a group attack<\/p>\n
Two squeeze the life out of the soul
\nAnd the Buffalo has gone
\nAnd now the family can set to work
\nThere’s a lot of meat upon
\nEnough for six lions anyway
\nThe two brothers learn to bond
\nDifferent personalities
\nBut clearly very fond
\nOf each other that’s for certain
\nAnd needs be after all
\nThere has to be a clarity
\nAnd an overriding rule<\/p>\n
Of protection and security
\nFor childhood doesn’t last
\nAnd a lionesses with two juveniles
\nReally their die was cast
\nWhen a male lions me to conquer
\nAnd ran the brothers free
\nThey had to get out while they could
\nUp against adversity<\/p>\n
lions are territorial
\nAnd females do belong
\nTo the ones providing protection
\nThe one that’s very strong
\nThere is no place for other males
\nIt’s a harem after all
\nAnd if you are a juvenile
\nYou must run that’s the call<\/p>\n
So the brother found themselves
\nAlone
\nThey had to get away
\nAnd they had to stick together
\nTheir insurance so to say
\nWith tails between their legs
\nA low profile was to be
\nHad as they got stronger
\nAnd more versed accordingly<\/p>\n
They got to know each other well
\nHunting where they could
\nThey made a lot of errors
\nYou’d Imagine that they would
\nBut they were getting stronger
\nAnd realising they
\nWould have to track and ambush
\nSmaller prey along the way<\/p>\n
They had the strength of the two of them
\nAnd therefore good support
\nAnd of course they were blood brothers
\nCapable of thought
\nSensing each other weaknesses
\nAnd strengths along the way
\nAnd becoming better hunters
\nReally by the day<\/p>\n
Skirting around the territories
\nOf other prides sometimes
\nCan get one into trouble
\nWith females
\nDanger climbs to its highest note
\nIf they encounter one and she
\nIs after mating and gives that nod
\nBut her owner happens to be<\/p>\n
Ready to fight over her
\nWith all the power and fright
\nWhich did happen to Banda
\nHe was three Nd he saw the light
\nHe took on this male lion
\nAnd with his brother at his side
\nBeat the King and ran him off
\nand they formed their own new pride<\/p>\n
Now their manes were chocolate brown
\nAnd they had both learned a great deal
\nBoth had mated with females
\nBoth were feeling real
\nThey were the joint kings of their pride
\nAnd Cubs were all about
\nWhich really gave them a purpose
\nAnd left them in no doubt<\/p>\n
Despite their earlier adversity
\nThey had come good anyway
\nThey were still together ruling
\nEvery day
\nTheir success was measure by the blood ties
\nAnd we see
\nThey are as strong as they ever were
\nPart of symphony<\/p>\n
For Africa a future a wildness after all
\nThey had proved it possible
\nWith not much of a school
\nThey managed with togetherness
\nTo still get through the strain
\nAnd organise a family
