There is a warrior class
\nThat actions deeds and enacts ways
\nOf placing pressure where it’s needed
\nThat now gets little praise
\nThey are action orientated
\nPrepared to give their time
\nTo fighting for the voiceless
\nAnd for the innocent
\nA climb
\nThat takes them onto mountain paths
\nPrecariously, to strive
\nOften taking on a great deal
\nAnd some may not survive<\/p>\n
For the incline can be massive
\nAnd often with no support
\nAnd up against the corporations
\nWho actually manage thought
\nIt’s all about connections
\nIt’s profit based and so
\nThe independent activist
\nMost do not want to know<\/p>\n
But they are there policing
\nThey take on the wrath
\nThey are fighting hourly
\nThey walk a dangerous path
\nWhen others are relaxing
\nThe activist will be
\nStanding in all weathers
\nDemanding change
\nThey see<\/p>\n
Violence against animals
\nThe vile and dark abuse
\nSexual gratification
\nWith animals they deduce
\nThe need to call for action
\nTo stop these outlets vile
\nAnd all this awful cruelty
\nThat they cannot reconcile<\/p>\n
Call them angels call them those concerned
\nPetition signing souls
\nMany of them are women
\nRetaining their nurturing roles
\nCreating waves of caring
\nAnd drawing down the power
\nOf would be corporate monsters
\nWho are present in the now<\/p>\n
One such soul I know of
\nIs Armelle Demmerle and she
\nTakes each battle to the streets
\nIt’s staggering to see
\nThe kind of true blown pressure
\nThis women puts herself through
\nFor the animals for the voiceless ones
\nAgainst the clueless who<\/p>\n
Tread water their existence is to take
\nThe easy route
\nTo look away to live their life
\nFor them it has to suit
\nTheir honest personalities
\nIt’s objectionable and they
\nwould not be seen dead protesting
\nWhich they view with such dismay<\/p>\n
The pioneer the activist the warrior
\nThe King
\nBelieves and achieves and manages
\nWith campaigns that will bring
\nWhatever to the forefront
\nThey influence and show
\nPeople who participate
\nCan very clearly grow<\/p>\n
But not without their problems
\nActivists are seen as militant
\nAs agitators not part of the machine
\nThat deactivates the public
\nThat dumbs them down to be
\nAllowing vivisection
\nAnd stagnating dormancy<\/p>\n
They are watchful they have enterprise
\nAnd energy beyond
\nThey take on corporations
\nIt’s maddening their bond
\nOf friendship and of activeness
\nThey put to heartfelt use
\nAnd animals are better off
\nand rescued from abuse<\/p>\n
Taking on the seriousness
\nAnd what is the neglect
\nThe horror the inertia
\nAnd, if they suspect
\nAnyone of hunting of poaching
\nOf torturing then they
\nare out there with their placards
\nAnd they do not go away<\/p>\n
They have determination
\nAnd Diligence as well
\nAnd an indefatigability
\nThough life may seem like Hell
\nThey remain enthusiastic
\nActive and awake
\nForceful trustful tireless
\nFor the animals sake<\/p>\n
Unpaid entirely voluntary
\nIt’s heartfelt all the way
\nThey pay all their expenses
\nIncurred throughout each day
\nThey work at nights on face book
\nAnd other social media too
\nSaving the lives of animals
\nOr whatever else they do<\/p>\n
ARmelle is one such warrior
\nArmed with knowledge she
\nTakes on many arrogant
\nAnd ignorant folk who be
\nOn both sides of the equation
\nShe does take them to task
\nResilient and unwearied
\nAnd what more can one ask<\/p>\n
Of any selfless sentient
\nStudious too she be
\nAble to speak three languages at least
\nAnd write as we
\nFeel that perseverance
\nThat commitment of the cause
\nWe love her for her energy
\nFor seldom does she pause<\/p>\n
To think of her own life choice
\nShe battles all the way
\nTaking on the quiescence
\nThat really is in play
\nThe inoperative the stationary
\nThe idle and the slow
\nThe impassive and apathetic
\nAnd all of this I know<\/p>\n
And there are others working
\nIn a similar way who
\nDon’t appreciate her knowledge
\nAnd her commitment let us say
\nAnd argue and so demonstrate
\nThat they believe that they
\nHave better ways of doing things
\nBut at the end of every day<\/p>\n
ARmelle for me is special
\nAnd respect must be what we
\nGive to people Of her ilk
\nWho really are the key
\nPeople in the huge great fight
\nWe have on earth today
\nFor the underdogs and the tortured souls
\nWho we meet along the way<\/p>\n
