Driven grouse moors
\nIts a hell of thing
\nA lucrative sport
\nWhere the shooter is king
\nIt cuts across nature
\nIn so many ways
\nBut it’s arrogance really
\nWith proof that it pays<\/p>\n
Outside of our homes
\nWe have great countryside
\nWhich is blessed with wild life
\nWhich is often denied
\nThere is balance a fore thought
\nIt all falls in place
\nIf you live and let live
\nAt a sensible pace<\/p>\n
Where there is money
\nAnd profits to earn
\nMankindfinds ways
\nReally to turn
\nNature around sometimes
\nFor his own good
\nAnd alas there are victims
\nWhich is not understood<\/p>\n
Hen Harriers, Hares
\nGolden Eagles as well
\nAll sorts of excuses
\nToo many to tell
\nBring on the victims
\nLike the Mountain Hare
\nAnd Create an imbalance
\nThat many don’t share<\/p>\n
LOuping Ill is a virus
\nPrimarily on Sheep
\nBut can affect grouse too
\nA reason to weep
\nIf you own a grouse moor
\nOr you happen to be
\nA hunter who likes to shoot Hares
\nRegularly<\/p>\n
Half go to looping ill
\nForty per cent
\nFor sport it’s called sport
\nAnd some seem content
\nTo accept it as fun
\nTo slaughter wild folk
\nAnd ten percent for forestry
\nNO it’s no joke<\/p>\n
Thousands of Mountains Hares
\nAre shot or snared
\nThese are beautiful creatures
\nAnd they ought to be spared
\nThey go in the larder
\nDespite the ticks they
\nCarry no sorry
\nYou can’t get away<\/p>\n
With these kinds of stories
\nFor what I now see
\nIs the Hares are the victims
\nThe grouse too they be
\nVictims and why is this
\nSo we can make
\nMoney, it’s funny
\nNo give and all take<\/p>\n
A PR disaster
\nFor Scotland the brave
\nBlood sports are wrong
\nIn my eyes we should save
\nAll wildlife it’s special
\nBUt the Hunter man
\nIs out there with money
\nThough I am not your fan<\/p>\n
Wood mice and voles carry diseases too
\nBut the Hare gets the blame
\nAnd the shots ring out true
\nThere are arguments both ways
\nOn whether it’s right
\nArrogance wins every time
\nAnd the light<\/p>\n
Is going out rapidly
\nAll over the place
\nKilling our wild life
\nWe should all face
\nThe prospect that life is sacred to all
\nAnd because some make money
\nOthers have to fall<\/p>\n
BAlmoral Estate even
\nEarlier on
\nThe hares took a battering there too
\nGone
\nHundreds and hundreds
\nOn rich souls plates
\nWe are over zealous
\nWith blood thirsty traits<\/p>\n
Life is so special
\nThat thread is unique
\nLife force miraculous
\nWhy do some seek
\nTo slaughter and end life
\nFor sport it’s a sin
\nIt’s not being mindful
\nAnd there is such a din<\/p>\n
In the mind of the wild ones
\nWho suffer and fall
\nThey did nothing wrong it was creations call
\nFor some are above all that
\nSome have their sport
\nAnd some want their profit
\nThat’s their only thought<\/p>\n
No give and take not any more
\nNo regard for the wild life
\nOutside our door
\nWhether foxes or badgers
\nOr beavers or deer
\nOr red grouse or Mountain Hares
\nTo me it’s clear<\/p>\n
Arrogance!
\nIgnorance of other lives
\nThe wildness of Nature
\nAnd how it survives
\nWith man un kind out there
\nFeathering his nest
\nMaking his killing
\nCreating unrest<\/p>\n
For those of us who
\nLove all wild life and need
\nTo leave it alone and let them succeed
\nThey have family lives
\nAnd we need to believe
\nThey should have rights too
\nThen we shall achieve<\/p>\n
Some respect for creation
\nAnd what it is doing
\nWhat it’s created
\nFor out there is brewing
\nA startling battle
\nThat really does send
\nA terrible message
\nThat there will be no end<\/p>\n
They are a race apart
\nWith feelings too
\nWith some emotions
\nOut there it rings true
\nWe can murder and slaughter
\nThose that can afford
\nTo have blood on their hands
