A family cat
\nA ginger Tom
\nBelonging to two boys
\nWas found strung up and beaten
\nAnd killed the obvious joys
\nOf the family he had been part of
\nAnd the terror and the pain
\nTo find this family member
\nIt’s life it seemed in vain<\/p>\n
Trying to imagine what goes on in
\nPeople minds
\nWhich normal child would do this
\nReally all the signs
\nAre pointed fairly obviously
\nTo people without care
\nWithout thinking without linking
\nNot being aware<\/p>\n
That cats belong to others
\nThey are part of a family
\nAnd murdering them is painful
\nSo much so to see
\nIt happening all around the place
\nWhat actually does it say
\nThe police are investigating
\nAs are the RSPCA<\/p>\n
And what might be the outcome
\nHow old are these boys
\nActually being questioned
\nThey must have made a noise
\nDid nobody in a public park
\nSee or hear for me
\nPeople doing this kind of thing
\nAre mental actually<\/p>\n
They expect to get away with it
\nThis is probably not the first
\nTime they have tortured an animal
\nIt’s as if they are cursed
\nTo catch a cat to tie it up
\nAnd to beat it with a stick
\nTo break its ribs to break its neck
\nThey really must be thick<\/p>\n
But we all must look more deeply
\nInto why it’s happening now
\nSocial media brings it into the open
\nMore that’s how
\nBut what makes young boys like this
\nWhere is their humility
\nSurely their parents And teachers
\nWould cover this carefully<\/p>\n
It’s having no respect at all
\nFor anything, and to me
\nThis stems from many angles
\nBut in essence now we see
\nI put myself in that cats place
\nThe agony of now
\nIt’s weeping and it’s wailing
\nIt’s reason to ask how<\/p>\n
This kind of thing is happening
\nThis cruelty this pain
\nWhat is wrong with society
\nLives going down the drain
\nThe hatred that they carry
\nThe animosity
\nBeating a cat until it dies
\nIt’s beyond wrong actually<\/p>\n
Those young boys that have lost their friend
\nThe family they will not
\nEver forget this incident
\nIt affects us all a lot
\nWe after all are their guardians
\nWe love them and we care
\nAnd someone outside comes along
\nAnd creates so much despair<\/p>\n
Unfeeling irresponsible
\nThis was a sentient soul
\nEvery time it felt the pain
\nIf they were on a roll
\nIt’s cries must have been many
\nAnd still they carried on
\nIf found the weight of the law
\nMust be
\nExacted now upon<\/p>\n
We have to really wonder
\nHow these boys now feel
\nWhat’s in their hearts
\nIn fits and starts
\nPerhaps that might reveal
\nThere is no way back for the poor cat
\nAnd the family grieving too
\nAll I can say having heard today
\nIs I share the pain with you<\/p>\n
I have written many hundreds of poems
\nAnd each one
\nBreaks my heart for every soul
\nUnderneath the sun
\nNever really came here to be beaten
\nTo be killed
\nTo be hanging by a bloody rope
\nWhilst it’s precious blood is spilled<\/p>\n
The police and RSPCA should find these
\nCulprits and
\nEnsure they get some treatment fast
