The Eastern Europeans have a courage
\nOf conviction
\nTo go where no man ever went
\nAnd this is never fiction
\nAlex a young sword swallower
\nTook his art to where
\nSword swallowers have never gone
\nInto heights of despair<\/p>\n
Not just for the artist
\nBut the audience as well
\nWho watch a man now risk his life
\nAnd take us all to hell
\nShirt off half black sleeves on show
\nHe swallows a sword and he bends
\nThen Does back somersaults
\nWhich clearly sends
\nUs all into a fits of pain
\nImagining this is just insane
\nWith the sword inside him how can he
\nRisk his life so avidly<\/p>\n
Then he takes a longer sword and he
\nSwallows it down for all to see
\nThen climbs the pole and hangs atop
\nThe drums roll and the eye balls pop
\nDown he slides stops at the floor
\nSuch timing and such skill and more
\nCourage truly delivers much
\nAnd clearly he is so in touch<\/p>\n
With the danger with the courage he
\nDelivers almost purposefully
\nIt’s perilousness he’s in jeopardy
\nAnd of course his vulnerability
\nHanging clearly by a thread
\nOne mistake and he is dead
\nAnd it’s uncertain how it might go
\nSo precariously part of the show
\nAnd unprotected no nets no aid
\nOn his shoulders he has laid<\/p>\n
All the risks a temperament
\nHis deliverance clearly content
\nWith his safeguards all in place
\nTo save himself and not lose face
\nThe audience by this time
\nWatching him swallow watching his climb
\nMeasure the performance off the scale
\nAre left in awe and looking pale<\/p>\n
My question really is why a man
\nMust create such danger as a plan
\nTo win a contest of ability
\nIt says something about society
\nClearly it’s his act and he knows
\nThe dangers as the drama grows
\nHe clearly is a skilful soul
\nAnd stamps his fervour with control<\/p>\n
It’s a master ship it’s a feat of skill
\nIt’s arduous and takes great will
\nYou don’t have off days with this act
\nThat much we know is a fact
\nHow can he not win every prize
\nAnd one hopes that he will realise
\nFame and fortune in his quest
