\nSo as to realise<\/p>\n
The wilderness around us
\nThe mountains and the sky
\nKatmai National Park and all
\nThe Bears that in there ply<\/p>\n
13 amazing Summers
\nAll the Bears he knew
\nAll of them he named them
\nHe knew what they could do<\/p>\n
He knew that they were dangerous
\nBut he felt destined to be
\nBuilding up a friendship with them
\nWith the wild and free<\/p>\n
He was sentimental
\nAnd hated hunters who
\nCame along to try their luck
\nAs hunters tend to do<\/p>\n
poachers too were a menace
\nBut his bears he understood
\nYou can say that he was delusional
\nBut mostly for the good<\/p>\n
Of his bears he sought protection
\nHis interactions high
\nHe was always making conversation
\nOn him they could rely<\/p>\n
To underestimate them
\nWould be folly through and through
\nAnd in 2003 they got to him
\nAnd his girl friend too it’s true<\/p>\n
They Attacked him one old critter
\nGot inside the tent
\nClearly chopped him up a bit
\nAnd Amie too she went<\/p>\n
With him to bear heaven
\nThough it must have felt like Hell
\nShe clearly stayed beside him
\nThrough his madness and she fell<\/p>\n
Beside him gobbled down with him
\nAn end an awful end
\nIf that was what he wanted
\nThe message it did send<\/p>\n
To me was he was happiest
\nPlaying sentry to these souls
\nWho were unguarded and aggressive
\nAnd were clearly poles<\/p>\n
Apart from ordinary humans
\nWilderness than one knows
\nBut Timothy had reached a point
\nBeyond what wildness shows<\/p>\n
His girl friend Aime was beside him
\nAs the ugly teeth devoured
\nshe was audibly screaming out
\nAs she was deflowered <\/p>\n
when he did shout
\n“Run Aime”possibly by that time
\nNeither could and who would
\nNot end up as Bear chyme<\/p>\n
Both were chomped on roughly
\nThe agony must have been
\nAwful till the adrenaline kicked in
\nUpon the scene<\/p>\n
He gave his heart and soul to them
\nAnd told us in many ways
\nHow much that he adored them
\nHe had, entered a phase<\/p>\n
Of actually just caring
\nAnd sharing life as they
\nStood their ground roaring
\nthrough each sound
\nDespite their wild dismay<\/p>\n
YEs he was delusional
\nAs a bear he thought that he
\nCould be despite their strength and power
\nand clear audacity<\/p>\n
A certain kind of madness
\novercomes a man
\nWho shares it all with loneliness
\nWhich became his own life plan<\/p>\n
He had a most rare courage
\nA warrior of thought
\nHe sat and talked quite genuinely
\nNever overwrought<\/p>\n
He went in there by sea plane
\nAnd after Summer he
\nFlew back out till the following year
\nThat’s how he chose to see<\/p>\n
His actual friend was Mr Chocolate
\nMore so than mortals who
\nThought that he was off his rocker
\nWhich most of us probably do<\/p>\n
He was out there searching
\nA child in so many ways
\nHe shared a new persona
\nHe was Not one of the gays!<\/p>\n
He believed that he was sexual
\nThat women needed to
\nBe In his bed whenever
\nThe child in him stayed true<\/p>\n
He thought he had got to know the Bears
\nAs we know he was aware
\nThat they were very dangerous
\nAnd He knew that being there<\/p>\n
Had many absurd angles
\nBut human beings too
\nApart from the women he must have loved
\nWho for the most part were good and true<\/p>\n
TImothy was a sentient a soulful
\nPassionate child
\nLiving for each moment
\nLiving in the wild<\/p>\n
He saw things in real time
\nColours filled his brain
\nHe left this world in pieces
\nIn an unutterable domain<\/p>\n
Agony omnipresent
\nAgitated by
\nThe activity of living
\nWith his ceiling as the sky<\/p>\n
Festering in Bear Chyme
\nThe coroner could say
\nNot a pretty picture
\nTo start a persons day<\/p>\n
The doldrums came and took him
\nA paralysis of sorts
\nHeld him in abeyance
\nSeduced his inner thoughts<\/p>\n
Riled him into action
\nA measure of his power
\nCommitted to his precious Bears
\nUntil his final hour<\/p>\n
His euphoria was granted
\nRefreshed he took that stand
\nTo be an agent for the good
\nAnd share the wilder land<\/p>\n
His deliverance was swift I think
\nThe ransom paid though high
\nHis precious watch still ticking
\nOn his arm they found close by<\/p>\n
The film was extra quirky
\nwerner Hartzog’s style
\nAnd magic for each moment
\nAnd to share them for a while<\/p>\n
Took me really into the mind
\nOf Timothy
\nWho ranted when he got the chance
\nBut did so eloquently<\/p>\n

\nThe man who made it his life’s work
\nTo befriend the grizzly<\/p>\n
The light she bears within her
\nIs a light that shines for me
