Stalwart and strong
\nAnd seldom wrong
\nStalking the river
\nBank
\nSo statuesque
\nLooking and waiting
\nAnd so demonstrating
\nThe great need to be there
\nThe hunt is now on<\/p>\n
There in the rushes a rat
\nSeldom blushes
\nWet with the river a giver of life
\nAware of the factors
\nAnd all of life’s actors
\nHiding and sliding
\nAnd feeling the strife<\/p>\n
The river is bountiful
\nRushing and crushing
\nAnd smashing and bashing and flashing away
\nThe Heron is staring
\nAnd of course is wearing
\nIts very huge beak
\nIn it’s most powerful way<\/p>\n
Catches the rat the little rat fellow
\nMotionless Statue of Liberty she
\nOut of the rushes she thrusts her great sword
\nInto the rushes and kind of flushes
\nThe rat out of hiding with quite some accord<\/p>\n
held he is held in her beak struggling wildly
\nCan he escape these bold clutches of death
\nShe soaks him in water
\nSoftens his resolve whilst he is biting
\nAnd fighting for breath<\/p>\n
For moments in time he is locked in expression
\nThe suggestion he lives
\nIs on everyone’s mind
\nThe Heron is adamant she wants some dinner
\nA rat’s vast adrenaline cloud
\nunderlined<\/p>\n
As his strength is now going
\nThe tooing and froing drenched in the water
\nAnd lost to the world
\nShe lifts up her head and swallows that rat guy
\nLost in the gullet of death he is hurled<\/p>\n
We watch as he wriggles his last gasping wiggles
\nTo open that bill and to just get away
\nBut soon he will drop in the pool of her stomach
\nInto her acid bath gone is the day<\/p>\n
That he first saw the light and the green of the rushes
\nAnd swam in the freedom the river did hold
\nNow he is lost in the herons own river
