\nStone Henge stands proudly

\nOn a vast chalky plain
\nAnd great flank of grass
\nExposed amazingly
\nInviting the throng<\/p>\n
To come and be mesmerised
\nTo come to feel so much
\nThe Neolithic the eternal force
\nGrounded and positive
\nTempered by history
\nProjecting transcending
\nExistence and course<\/p>\n
Awakened minds are regarded
\nwith interest
\nInto the car park
\nReady to be
\nRobed up and lifted to realms
\nHigh and mighty
\nThe Cotswold Order
\nAll there thankfully<\/p>\n
On the hill with a light
\nOf extraordinary brightness
\nArmies of poppies danced in the breeze
\nLifting our spirits
\nEnjoying the music
\nThe musings the joyousness
\nThat clearly did please<\/p>\n
We are an array of the glorious
\nOrder
\nRobes hoods and staffs
\nAn unravelling throng
\nMultifarious costumes
\nUnique and original
\nOnto the buses
\nWhere we did belong<\/p>\n
Then out into the light
\nTo march into glory
\nWith the music of STYX
\nStroud’s majestic band
\nClad in the Black and the red
\nand the green
\nDrums mark our destiny
\nGive us our queue
\nUp to the stones
\nThats what we do<\/p>\n
STYX were the Morris Men
\nLadies and Gentlemen
\nSetting the path
\nWith their tireless display
\nAnd we could all hear
\nThe great Sarsons
\ncalling
\nThe rugged the ancient the stones
\nAnd their way<\/p>\n
Of setting the drama
\nWe all felt much calmer
\nThe circle engaged
\nWe held hands and we knew
\nA brief meditation a coming together
\nA real culmination
\nOf all that was true<\/p>\n
Calling for Peace in the North
\nIn the South in the West in the East
\nBy Celtic design
\nWe opened the gates one by one
\nHail and mighty
\nThe circle enlivened
\nAnd feeling divine<\/p>\n
The Arch Druids welcome
\nWas clear and was lovely
\nThen the Holly King
\nAnd the Oak King appeared
\nTheir pages were summoned
\nAnd their great staffs passed to them
\nLet the battle commence
\nWith its usual ring<\/p>\n
Both battled long and hard
\nSticks crashing violently
\nThe oak king his reign ending
\nThe Holly king he
\nSaw off the Oak King
\nWho lay sadly bleeding
\nThen came the Lady of Summer
\nAnd her maidens
\nTo dance in mourning the Oak King
\nWas dying sadly<\/p>\n
To the ladies of Summer
\nAnd her maidens
\nour Bard
\nrecited the poem
\nOf instruction to guard
\nThen clearly to show them
\nWhy and wherefore
\nWhereupon we were called
\nTo dance with affection
\nAnd did so for sure<\/p>\n
Couples were joyous
\nWe danced for a while
\nThe Oak King was gone
\nBut fought with such style
\nThen came the mead and the
\nCake and we
\nHeard
\nit blessed
\nWe were indulged
\nThats what occurred<\/p>\n
Then the bard he stood up
\nAnd gave his Solstice Rhyme
\nInjecting some humour
\nTo well pass the time<\/p>\n
Then we saw STYX a rebellious crew
\nDrawing such verve preparing a stew
\nOf gaiety dance and stick tapping soul
\nThat had our toes tapping out of control
\nBeautiful costumes they exuded such joy
\n3 classic dances and they did employ
\nSpirit and happiness their energy
\nAnd the saxophone’s tones
\nAnd their music and Qi
\nI enjoyed it so much they gave me a high
\nWilling the sun to shine down from the sky<\/p>\n
Myriad colours traditional dance
\nA mirrored hat black faces
\nLeaving Nothing to chance
\nThey were just wonderful
\nThey were just great
\nAnd you could feel the life force
\nRising a rate<\/p>\n
Then the purple drummer’s
\nwith their soft refrain
\nCalmed us and charmed us
\nAgain and again
\nThey went through two numbers
\nA treat I will say
\nMoving I thought
\nA moving display<\/p>\n
Then the talking stick
\nWhere we all had a chance
\nEach did participate
\nA couple from France
\nWere here both were druids
\nFrom Provence they
\nWere dressed in their fineries
\nFor the great day<\/p>\n
The witches from Wales
\nAnd so many more
\nTold us their stories
\nSeedlings for sure
\nA song and a poem
\nAnd barrels of fun
\nUplifting the spirt
\nThats how its done
\nClaudia mentioned the moon
\nAs we learned
\nIf full before solstice
\nWe should be concerned
\nIt can cause madness
\nThe old loony tune
\nAnd all of that stuff
\nIs down to the moon<\/p>\n
The druids prayer
\nCollectively said
\nThe wonderful hum
\nTo heal there were some
\nWho gave and received
\nThe energy there
\nMagnified at the henge
\nWith what was so much care<\/p>\n
We finished with<\/p>\n
Ho’s
\nCollectively spread
\nWiltshire excited
\nThe warmth which then fed
\nUp into the sky beyond and before
\nExciting the sun to appear
\nDon’t ignore
\nThe power of the circle
\nThe wish of the crowd
\nThe joyous emotions
\nAnd how they were showered<\/p>\n
Over us all lightening our way
\nAnd the ancestors surely heard us today
\nThere was great energy some felt it they
\nWith the stones and the energy
\nClearly at play
\nLike minds that generate positive thought
\nThere in the shadows
\nI felt that we caught
\nA glimpse of some entities
\nWatching us all
\nSharing the ritual
\nAnd coming to call<\/p>\n
The four gates were closed we said our good byes
\nThe ritual was over
\nLooking up to the skies
\nIt did look much brighter
\nAnd I felt so in tune
\nAnd the sun did come out
\nGiving a flaming June<\/p>\n
One observation I mention today
\nthe Crows were observing
\nSome flying away
\nFrightened by the drums
\nBut inquisitively
\nAware that we share solutions
\nTo free
\nUp hearts and the ancestors
\nWho came I feel
\nWould have been impressed
\nAt what this did reveal<\/p>\n
it was a really energising day I thought
\nA beautiful ceremony which everybody was party to
\nAnd contributed to<\/p>\n
