One fish represents the trillions
\nTaken every year
\nSuch blatant destruction
\nCertainly its clear
\nThe pirates and the corporations
\nAnd every fishing fleet
\nThe long lines and the seine nets
\nFeeding the elite<\/p>\n
The ugliness and greediness
\nThe vast network of nets
\nThe failure to have any sense
\nAnd of course the massive debts
\nAccruing in the oceans
\nIn our precious seas
\nRivers farms just everywhere
\nThere are catastrophes<\/p>\n
Happening every second
\nClawing from the sea
\nEverything there thats alive
\nAs if it all is free
\nThere is no badge of honour
\nNobody seems to care
\nIts steal and murder everything
\nEvery soul thats there
\nBaby fish and huge great fish
\nJust catch and kill and eat
\nAbsolutely free of scruples
\nIn every way just cheat<\/p>\n
Whales and dolphins and porpoises
\nAnd every kind of fish
\nFor all the myriad markets
\nFor every sodding dish
\nThe TV chefs can muster up
\nThey are hoovering up all life
\nA tiny fish lies paralysed
\nWaiting for your knife
\nYour samphire and your lemon sauce
\nAs it absorbs the strife<\/p>\n
I say give up you murderers
\nTrawled up along with more
\nThan any of you dreamed of
\nDying just off shore
\nEvery single mollusc shrimp
\nPrawn crab and more
\nWhat we scrape out of existence
\nOff the ocean floor<\/p>\n
Its absolutely awful
\nThe carnage everyday
\nEven fish we cannot eat
\nAre torn and pulled away
\nThere are no guidelines
\nAnymore
\nJust ugliness and shame
\nJust evil and its hard to see
\nJust how you inflame<\/p>\n
The hearts and mind of many of us
\nProtecting the sea
\nTrying to help the abundance
\nOf life that swim there free
\nThat Swims through human excrement
\nPlastics and crude oil
\nRadiation PCB’s it does make my blood boil
\nTo see their pain and hear their cries
\nAnd watch the fishing fleets
\nScooping up the precious life
\nThat avidly competes<\/p>\n
In what is the great ocean of life
\nFor what we do
\nIs kill ourselves we are slaughtering
\nThe life forms and its true
\nEach day our greed takes more and more
\nAnd more and more and more
\nWe leave a sterile polluted earth
\nIn fact its an all out war<\/p>\n
The oceans are now close to death
\nThe coral gardens too
\nAll life on earth is threatened
\nAnd it is all down to YOU
\nThe greedy psychopathic beings
\nWhose desire so strong
\nIs apparently to eat everything
\nNo matter how wrong<\/p>\n
The recipes of disaster
\nAll empathy is gone
\nAnd the perils growing faster
\nBeyond and out upon
\nThe seas and rivers loaded
\nWith the excrement of man
\nA hell hole from a heavenly place
\nLife being lost without a trace<\/p>\n
One little fish looks skywards
\nGasping now for breath
\nEyes popping out of her tiny head
\nWe know soon that her death
\nShe is just another victim
\nHappening today
\nThe slaughtering is grossly overdone
\nAnd there is no way<\/p>\n
That life now can recover
\nWe have blown our chances here
\nThe food chain is being totally destroyed
\nAnd so much fear
\nEncountered in the oceans
\nSo much enmity
\nOur ungratefulness is shattering
\nOur thanklessness must be<\/p>\n
Beyond the pale into a maelstrom
\nOf improbity
\nOur total lack of conscience
\nOur complete obliquity
\nOur worthlessness our complicity
\nIn the scourge that we now know
\nIs rumbling below the waves
\nAs our laxity does grow<\/p>\n
It is wickedness and iniquity
\nOur humanity is lost
\nWhat we have allowed is outrageous
\nAnd an unbelievable cost
\nCreating gave us everything
\nA flourish to atone
\nAn immaculacy so beautiful
\nBut our evil we have sown<\/p>\n
Our seeds of death are everywhere
\nDestruction is to be
\nThe end the end of all of us
\nWhose wish was just to see
\nThe wonders of creation
\nThe miracles of life
\nTo share the want of splendour
\nWhich now is open strife<\/p>\n
And perhaps our day of reckoning
\nIs sooner than we think
\nAnd our retribution will be harsh
\nFor we are now on the brink
\nWhether there could be a way back
\nNow I am not sure
\nFor the Prince of darkness hovers
