Self interest is paramount
\nIn their whole way
\nOf conducting business
\nEvery day
\nRegardless of harm to others
\nThey be
\nThere to make money
\nThats all they see<\/p>\n
Thats their priority
\nThats what they do
\nIts not flesh and blood
\nIts the boardroom
\nThat view
\nThe balance sheet
\nProfit and loss
\nAnd some more
\nAnd its never ending
\nAnd that is for sure<\/p>\n
Many potentials
\nCommensurate to
\nThe appropriate margins
\nThe logical view
\nEach to his own
\nMaybe so but today
\nThe great corporation
\nAppears here to stay<\/p>\n
Their goals may be
\nArbitrary
\nAnd misplaced as well
\nBut nothing unnerves them
\nIts all about sell
\nAnd sell and sell more
\nIts a rootless desire
\nTo succeed any deed
\nAnd to do it with fire<\/p>\n
Fire in the belly,
\nOf caustic concern
\nAnimals people there is nothing to learn
\nThey do what they are told
\nAnd they head hunt the best
\nPay them big salaries
\nAnd that does the rest<\/p>\n
Social contracts and mindfulness
\nDoesn’t have a chance
\nEthical concerns
\nIf it can enhance
\nTheir figures then maybe
\nIf not it won’t be
\nPossible clearly
\nFor they cannot see<\/p>\n
To work in a corporate
\nBrainwashing matters
\nYou do what makes money
\nThis ideology to some
\nIt just shatters
\nAll of their thinking
\nWhat makes them whole
\nThat is the placement
\nFor a true soul<\/p>\n
Take fish a commodity
\nOpenly sold
\nTerrible by-catch
\nYou’d be out in the cold
\nWorrying knowing so many are
\nPirated and caught
\nProbably from far<\/p>\n
From where they now should
\nAnd not the right size
\nOver the quota
\nIts no surprise
\nCorporate catches
\nAre over the top
\nIts all about money
\nAnd so will not stop<\/p>\n
It is humans running them
\nBut they are lost
\nHuge salaries really
\nAnd so they are tossed
\nInto a whirlpool
\nWhere anything goes
\nAnd this is what happens
\nThats how it flows<\/p>\n
They transcend formal commerce
\nBelieving that they
\nAre the supreme masters
\nAnd all must pay
\nWhatever the price is
\nFor they made it so
\ns to the trillions of victims
\nThey don’t want to know<\/p>\n
It hard to get through to them
\nThey are machines
\nYes they wear trousers
\nPossibly jeans
\nYes they wear shirts
\nAnd leggings too
\nBut their mind set is
\nProfit just profit
\nAll through<\/p>\n
They cannot see light
\nIf darkness they need
\nThey cannot see blood
\nWhen others do bleed
\nIts all about money
\nIts the cash flow and more
\nPerformance and budgets
\nAnd the big open door<\/p>\n
We stand on the touch line
\nAnd yell in the air
\nWaving our banners
\nTrying to share
\nThe wisdom of old
\nWith the machineS of the new
\nOur medley of slogans
\nAll of them true<\/p>\n
But tHey are not heard
\nThey have no care
\nWe can be blue in the face
\nUnaware
\nPeople its not about people for they
\nCan head hunt who ever
\nWho will think their way<\/p>\n
And each corporation
\nIs a link in a chain
\nThat spreads every which way
\nAnd then back again
\nThey feather their own nests
\nAnd pat their own backs
\nAnd paper it over
\nAnd hide all the cracks<\/p>\n
We can tell everybody
\nWhat they have done
\nWith the money they earned
\nIn their hours in the sun
\nBut if its making money
\nThen that is the way
\nTear down the forests
\nJust to make way<\/p>\n
For palm oil for buildings
\nCollateral loss
\nthe animals
\nThe indigenous
\nAll that they toss
\nOnto a big graph that hangs on the wall
\nIt just doesn’t matter
\nIt doesn’t matter at all<\/p>\n
Its all continuity
\nIts all about scale
\nTurning stuff over
\nThe money trail
\nIts uninterrupted
\nIts cumulativeness
\nIts incorporation
\nAnd nothing less<\/p>\n
So we talk up commodities
\nAnd the collateral cost
\nBut high in the chambers
\nThe big boys are lost
\nThey can’t see the eye of the needle today
\nOnly the cotton when it wears away<\/p>\n
As for Mc Donalds and others what we
\nHave to do is keep trying
\nAnd one day they will be
\nSo far up the Swanned
\nIn such a huge mess
\nThat somebody somewhere

As we win one vote
