Tungurahua or throat of fire
\nLooms over Banos, she
\nIs a lady warrioress
\nSmoking passionately
\nWhen I was there a shaft of grey
\nWas always in the sky
\nThe indigenous know of her spirit
\nAnd the anger in her eye<\/p>\n
Ash falls all about
\nAnd In other towns around
\nWe are near the Pastaza River
\nWhere I found it on the ground
\nIts a town famed for its leather goods
\nI stayed there for a week
\nWatching the humming birds
\nNear my window
\nPoking their little beak
\nInto the flowers close to me
\nFascinating souls
\nTiny and multi coloured
\nEach taking up their roles
\nProbably unknowing
\nOf The mighty mountain there
\nDwarfing them completely
\nAnd Thrusting ash now everywhere.
\nWas I ever frightened
\nI don’t think I was
\nI was just enjoying life
