\nA vast open wilderness wild as can be
\nAnimal earthlings and many indigenous
\nLive side by side in the land of the free<\/p>\n
The Department of Fish & Game overseas
\nLife there
\nIts Facebook page, though is no remedy
\nWith children with innocence
\nWith adaptability
\nWide open spaces rhapsodic and free<\/p>\n
Sam Cotten the Commissioner
\nIs in the hot seat
\nOr should it be cold seat
\nFor tragically, we
\nFeel very disgruntled and truly crestfallen
\nOn how it is managed
\nAnd why it should be<\/p>\n
Its such an arena of wild souls
\nTogether
\nThe absurdity though
\nIs their value is lost
\nIn an arrogant pattern of evil
\nToward them
\nCreation was wonderful
\nBut it has cost<\/p>\n
Lives lost it seems from the hands
\nOf employees
\nIgnorance reigns of that it is clear
\nTotal mismanagement lacking understanding
\nSelf contradiction and an abiding fear<\/p>\n
Ignorance though the disease of the new age
\nEnlightenment lost in the oil boom where we
\nSee the intimidation upon true creation
\nThe doubters are everywhere it seems to me<\/p>\n
Encouraging hunting and fishing and trapping
\nIts not exploration its murder its wrong
\nMany misjudgements giving wrong impressions
\nA basic intolerance now all along<\/p>\n
There is no inspiration nor enough intuition
\nA lot of its guesswork and sophistry
\nThey do not think ahead and examine the evidence
\nThey discriminate widely and so what we see<\/p>\n
Are animals trapped torn apart and dismembered
\nLost to Alaska lost to the world
\nAnd this from employees bound to protect them
\nBut clearly their sickness is now being hurled<\/p>\n
On Coyotes a million or so have been murdered
\nIn a vile way by men who should know
\nBetter, Black bears Beavers and Otters
\nPerforming their tasks and helping to grow<\/p>\n
A great tourist industry Wolves too and Puma’s
\nThese wonderful animals this is their place
\nTo be shot down and trapped and killed in these sortee’s
\nSo much disrespect and indifference we face<\/p>\n
Where is the thinking behind all this murder
\nWhat mental process is going on here
\nWhat of perception and a real consciousness
\nWhy are you ramping up just so much fear<\/p>\n
Humanity talks about vivification
\nHow to hold onto life to that spark we all know
\nSupporting each other and gaining respect
\nNot being intolerant to the great flow<\/p>\n
Existence is being a realness in time
\nThe gradual progress the eventual climb
\nAll are connected giving and taking
\nBut what you are doing now my heart is breaking<\/p>\n
Great Golden Eagles that hang in the sky
\nThat sweep with the thermals why must they die
\nCaught in the leg traps left on the ground
\nThese are protected birds and we cry when they are found<\/p>\n
Lost in contraptions that shouldn’t be there
\nLeft indiscriminately just anywhere
\nWolves shot and killed these animals are
\nPriceless your ignorance it does so scar<\/p>\n
The whole of Alaska the footprint you leave
\nTrying to cover up doesn’t achieve
\nAnything really it lets people see
\nAnd you Mr Cotton how can you be<\/p>\n
Allowing this pointlessness this rootless regard
\nFor all the other earthlings who live in your yard
\nA disequilibrium exists today
\nToo many excuses when so many pay
\nA price their finality their destiny
\nLost in each debacle the travesty<\/p>\n
What you were given the almighty sense
\nThis wonderful wilderness dramatic and tense
\nFull of great beauty and animals who
\nAre part and parcel of what you must do
\nProtect them from your people
\nTheir killing spree’s
\nA lot of those animals are on their knees
\nThis is not what tax payers want from your team
\nThis super abundance the American dream<\/p>\n
Think of your children and their children too
\nGo back in time how souls thought of you
\nThey were protective and caring enough
\nTo safeguard the future however tough<\/p>\n
They saw the value of each soul who be
\nPut on this earth in the wilds to be free
\nNot chased every which way and trapped out of sight
\nAnd shot just for pleasure they knew what was right<\/p>\n
You are the commissioner and you must see
\nThe state of Alaska the land of the free
\nRemember your adage the animals too
\nHave a place in eternity along with you<\/p>\n
