Ellie, Belly and Jelly
\nLive in AFRICA
\nWhere abundance is the word
\nThat springs to mind
\nAll three of them are pachyderms
\nWhich is all about their skin
\nIts very thick but unlike humans
\nIt tends to underpin
\nTheir comfort and realisation
\nOf the environment where they
\nLive and are a part of
\nEvery single day<\/p>\n
If we are thick skinned
\nIt is thought we are less sensitive perhaps
\nBut the pachyderms have awareness
\nThough they keep it under wraps
\nWhen Flies and biting insects
\nLike to take up residence and
\nBurrowing and scratching all about
\nIts never grand<\/p>\n
The sun is always welcome
\nBut in the absence of the trees
\nIt really does get overpowering
\nWith not a hint of breeze
\nAnd parasites present their problems
\nTo elephants abroad
\nAnd one organic substance
\nAround now does afford<\/p>\n
Protection and it gives them
\nA smooth finish to the skin
\nIt gets baked on and is cooling too
\nSo in essence its win win<\/p>\n
And Ellie Belly and Jelly
\nAre clearly so aware
\nBeing by the river
\nThere is mud around to share
\nI have told you of its qualities
\nAnd I am sure there are many more
\nBut a mud pack and a mud bath
\nHelps us when we are feeling sore<\/p>\n
Its also a real good protector
\nAgainst the hot hot sun
\nWe might have thick skins that is true
\nBut when the day is done
\nStuck out in the open
\nYou can get badly burned
\nSo mud again is our saviour
\nAnd now all you have learned<\/p>\n
Why it is we are happy
\nTo be around today
\nWith all our parents knowledge
\nNow coming our way
\nWe have big ears to listen
\nIts very very clear
\nAFRICA is our favourite place
