{"id":2767,"date":"2012-08-23T21:16:16","date_gmt":"2012-08-23T21:16:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2767"},"modified":"2012-08-24T13:15:29","modified_gmt":"2012-08-24T13:15:29","slug":"the-futility-of-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cooksdelight.co.uk\/blog\/2012\/08\/the-futility-of-war\/","title":{"rendered":"The futility of War ( from a  survivor) Inspired by an article in  Counter Currents this evening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rare cancers<br \/>\nare not rare in<br \/>\ndear old Iraq<br \/>\nit appears<br \/>\nthe horrid war it<br \/>\ncame and went<br \/>\nand left us years<br \/>\nof tears.<\/p>\n<p>uranium has a half life<br \/>\nin billions<br \/>\ntherefore, we<br \/>\nmay not be able<br \/>\nto appreciate that its<br \/>\nonly some 20 years<br \/>\nsince it all kicked off<br \/>\nand we,<br \/>\nnever shall be free<br \/>\nits a minutiae<br \/>\nwhen we begin to<br \/>\nsee<br \/>\nwhat people do to others<br \/>\nthey play out that<br \/>\ntragedy<\/p>\n<p>the stench of war<br \/>\nis prevalent<br \/>\nthe world is forced<br \/>\nto smell<br \/>\nthe blood and guts<br \/>\nof many friends<br \/>\ntransported off<br \/>\nto Hell<\/p>\n<p>bodies ravaged<br \/>\ntorn apart<br \/>\nby  hellish weapondy<br \/>\ninnocent bystanders<br \/>\nlooked so dejected<br \/>\nplaying our sad part<br \/>\nin  History<\/p>\n<p>looking into children&#8217;s<br \/>\nfaces<br \/>\nriddled with strange staring<br \/>\neyes<br \/>\nstaring in and out of you<br \/>\nhoping to realise<\/p>\n<p>bandages soaked<br \/>\nin their blood<br \/>\nare wrapped around their<br \/>\nsouls<br \/>\ndeep cuts  a tearful<br \/>\ncountenance<br \/>\na testament consoles<\/p>\n<p>none of them<br \/>\nthere&#8217;s no body<br \/>\nwho dares to have<br \/>\na thought<br \/>\nas to why we act in such a way<br \/>\nwhy, this action<br \/>\nwas sought<\/p>\n<p>madness on a scale<br \/>\ninvolving infants<br \/>\nwho take the vile<br \/>\ncontraptions that we fire<br \/>\nin anger at each other<br \/>\nas our bloody tanks<br \/>\ndo rumble<br \/>\nthrough the streets<br \/>\nwhere such wrath, is dire<\/p>\n<p>so many were a tangled<br \/>\nmass of limb and bone<br \/>\ncrushed or smashed<br \/>\nlike toys of PVC<br \/>\ntiny little &#8220;Barbie&#8221; dolls<br \/>\ntwisted<br \/>\nhad they resisted<br \/>\nno they were simply<br \/>\ngazing thoughtfully<\/p>\n<p>lying fast asleep<br \/>\nblood flowed  like<br \/>\nrivers<br \/>\nthe evils desperate men<br \/>\nare prepared to use<br \/>\nagainst the unseen souls<br \/>\nwho lie peacefully in their cots<br \/>\nwhose gentle lives they so violently<br \/>\nabuse<\/p>\n<p>power what is the vilest of confusion<br \/>\na classic case of<br \/>\nsuddenly being, where<br \/>\nit would have been<br \/>\nmuch better to have<br \/>\njust been somewhere else<br \/>\nto have escaped this<br \/>\nshock,and dire despair<\/p>\n<p>but we alas were<br \/>\nthose actors<br \/>\nin that scene<br \/>\nand still today<br \/>\nsome of us<br \/>\nthe survivors<br \/>\nin a land that<br \/>\nwas forced to pay<br \/>\na land whose History  does go<br \/>\nback an epoch<br \/>\nwhy and how and who<br \/>\na mystery<br \/>\neverywhere is memory of<br \/>\ngood times<br \/>\nand everywhere is sheer<br \/>\nfutility.<\/p>\n<p>war for sure<br \/>\nis measured in the death<br \/>\nof honest people<br \/>\npeople who became<br \/>\njust blood and gore<br \/>\nnow I look across<br \/>\nthe streets of courage<br \/>\nwhere men fell in their hundreds<br \/>\nthey were dads and brothers<br \/>\nyes, before<\/p>\n<p>and I know<br \/>\nthe cancer that is now inside<br \/>\nof me<br \/>\neveryday, it<br \/>\ncontinues, to grow<br \/>\nreminding me<br \/>\nof what in fact had<br \/>\nhappened<br \/>\nand that any thought of<br \/>\nrecovery was now low<\/p>\n<p>I bleed inside<br \/>\nfor all the souls<br \/>\nnow lying in the sand<br \/>\nwho didn&#8217;t make it safely<br \/>\nthrough the war<br \/>\nI understand<br \/>\nmy mother is a beautiful<br \/>\nindividual<br \/>\nshe looks into my eyes<br \/>\nand I adore<\/p>\n<p>for I can see<br \/>\nan angel,she&#8217;s an angel<br \/>\nshe&#8217;s my, angel<br \/>\nshe looks with deep set eyes<br \/>\nso painfully<\/p>\n<p>all knowing, she&#8217;s all seeing<br \/>\nshe&#8217;s all thinking<br \/>\nshe knows that her<br \/>\ndear child is going to die<br \/>\nI know of course<br \/>\nI feel, of course<br \/>\nthe sheer inevitability<br \/>\nbut cannot bring myself<br \/>\nto now ask why?
