The Beltane celebration
\nAt the Roll Rights stones
\nOxfordshire’s best kept secret
\nIts one of the unknown’s
\nA mystical stone circle
\nRinged by fields and trees
\nUpon a hill where sunlight does spill
\nAnd the wind does often tease<\/p>\n
and today was no exception
\nAfter the ritual We
\nFelt the serpents icy tongue
\nLap us chillingly
\nEven the new wild bluebells
\nPealing out their song
\nWere wondering I feel certain
\nWhere they had gone wrong<\/p>\n
As We all formed the circle
\n50 or so friends who came
\nReally feeling the fellowship
\nWith the arch druid by name
\nVeronica introduced herself
\nAnd helped to prepare the way
\nThe portals then were opened
\nSo significantly today
\nCalling for peace around us all
\nAnd we all were in accord
\nThe Portals opened it breathes new life
\nA sensation of reward<\/p>\n
Holding hands the circle
\nIntact Our hearts as one
\nOur thoughts too of togetherness
\nAll hoping to see some sun
\nthe Maypole and its ribbons
\nA multi coloured dream
\nMaz, displayed her wisdom
\nAn invocation and we
\nHeard the green man’s eyes were watering
\nWhich in fact We could then see
\nThe May Queen clad in snowy white
\nWith a sweet headband of May
\nand the Green Man and the May Queen led us all away
\nIn precession
\nTo the Maypole
\nwhere we danced
\nperchance to wonder
\nThe darling buds of May
\nAnd fertility sweet thunder<\/p>\n
After the romp and playfulness
\nIn procession we all returned
\nTo the circle and the blessings
\nOf the food and mead we learned
\nWhilst partaking of this manna
\nWith its sustaining force
\nA poetic chanting rhyming story
\nPlayed out to charm of course
\nThe May Queen and Dear Tina
\nHelped create as they
\nTold us with rhyme and reason why
\nWe were here today
\nThe bard too helped a little
\nAnd spoke of the various trees
\nAnd How they brought enlightenment
\nTo the knowledge if you please<\/p>\n
The great Oaks their longevity
\nThe Birch a sentinel
\nThe Hawthorn was the spirited one
\nthe Rowan weaved a spell
\nAn observation at that moment the sun
\nWas labouring through
\nA bank of wind blown thickish clouds
\nWith its whiteness good and true<\/p>\n
Its Light a shallow trail to earth
\nWas Soon exhausted by
\nThe wind that shook the heartwood
\nAnd brought tears to the eye
\nEnlightenment in so many ways
\nTo the magic around us
\nFor it plays
\nA significant role in Each daily chore
\nObservation really pays<\/p>\n
We must stop exhausting the supplies
\nOut there
\nLearn to communicate and to care
\nThe magical herbs that already are
\nSharing their force fields with each star
\nThen the talking stick the chance to feel
\nTo say a few words and to maintain real
\nConnection with our new found friends
\nAround the circle until it ends<\/p>\n
We were moved we always are in fact
\nIts a chance to listen and then react
\nAn introduction a quip or ode
\nA song whatever we just unload
\nThat singular strength involves us all
\nFor on all of us we receive the call
\nIn the aura of Roll rights our feelings
\nBear fruit
\nWith the moles below in hot pursuit
\nThe joy one feels the exhilaration
\nAbandoning stress and agitation
\nClosing the portals the serpents tongue
\nWas showing its teeth too and among<\/p>\n
Us we could feel its strength
\nAnd a deal of zeal
\nThe chill was there an icy glare
\nReally made us feel
\nIt was ho ho ho time
\nJoining hands we lifted our arms
\nAnd our ho’s did climb
\nInto the heaven across the green
\nTo Chipping Norton’s country scene
\nWe felt that power and that control
\nWhich really and honestly lifted our soul<\/p>\n
The ritual being over we all wended our way
\nLed by the arch druid from the Eastern gate
\nTo say <\/p>\n
our farewells and to re engage
\nWith our homeward trek and another page
\nOn The 25th and 26th of June we will be
\nAt Stonehenge and Rollright’s
\nAgain happily
\nRenewing the gifts and the ritual pose
