Misconceptions, myths
\nand downright ignorance
\nrage now, in Minnesota and beyond
\nmaltreatment of the children
\nof the Wilderness
\nWhom the Objiwe and many more
\nare fond<\/p>\n
mandatory protection
\nhas been cancelled
\nthe ranchers and the hunters
\nshout hoo ray
\ntheir arrogance is guided by
\nfaint heartedness
\nfor with their loaded rifles
\nthey display<\/p>\n
a wanton disregard
\nof all that’s living
\nfiring into bushes rapidly
\nthe habitat is tamed
\nthe warriors its claimed
\ndo howl their combined heads off
\nconstantly<\/p>\n
contentious are the issues
\non rocks beneath the moon
\nthe killing it will happen
\nthe ranchers want it soon
\nEverybody’s up in arms
\nthe wolves too are aware
\nof the writing, on the wall
\nBecause hunters put it there
\nthey frighten off prey animals
\nand drive them far away
\nall wild creatures shudder
\nas the men with fire sticks
\nspray
\nthey high five in their
\ncamouflage
\nwith murderous intent
\nits clearly spread across their face
\nas expletives they do vent<\/p>\n
The objiwe, are brothers
\nwe live where we were born
\neach knows the forest
\nand the plains
\nThe Objewe the corn
\nthe few packs live here peacefully
\nstealthily they run
\nthe gambit every single day
\nall expect to hear the gun
\nthey shelter steadfast
\nin the silent shadows
\na den deep in the earth
\nis possibly
\nsafe where they can rest up
\nin the moment
\nand wait for dawn
\nbefore the thought to flee<\/p>\n
rampant remnants
\nof the raunchy ranchers
\nthe horrid haunted hunters
\nsquat in hides
\nsome wolves are cut down in a stream of
\nbursting bullets
\nthat tear into their flanks
\nand crush their sides
\nThey are like family every single
\none of them
\neach we gave names to
\nand watched them grow
\neach had a special character
\nand all were individuals
\nhunting on their own
\nand in the flow
\nto see them breathing rapidly
\nand dying
\ngasping for that last breath
\non this earth
\nand hearing these bold hunters
\nlaughing out aloud
\nnot really realising
\nthe wolf’s worth
\nsicken us and all of the objiwe
\nwe understand their spirit for we know
\nthat really they are family
\nand to treat them as they do
\nwill bring down evil spirits
\nand disease with run on through
\nthe wild one’s have been living
\nsome 10,000 years or more
\nyou run them off their land
\nbut you will suffer blood and gore<\/p>\n
They are like family too us
\nwe have lived side by side
\neach respects the other
\nand each sometimes confide
\nthe white man seeks to profit
\nfrom the wild one’s and he will
\nin the short term get his way
\nbut we shall come back to kill<\/p>\n
His spirit and his being
\nfor its short term profit, he
\nthinks about and we the wild one’s
\nhave eternity
\nwe sacrifice each moment
\nwe lay our heads and sigh
\nwe howl into the moonlight
