Wild animals in circus
\nIs a very selfish thing
\nIt calls for the absolute ignorance
\nTo show them in a ring
\nThe big top travelling here and there
\nAll over so much stress
\nBy definition animals need
\nMore Exercise not less<\/p>\n
Peter Jolly’s family circus
\nHas a range of souls
\nZebra’s,Ponies,Camels
\nGoats and donkeys
\nRoles
\nAre simply not engaging
\nTheir naturalness at all
\nCramped up in their barns for hours
\nIt has to be a tall<\/p>\n
Order, to expect them
\nTo entertain the crowd
\nTo travel around the country
\nTo come out always proud
\nDressed up and performing
\nIt is no place to be
\nAnd being on the road
\nAt night no one wants to see<\/p>\n
Dilapidated buildings
\nPoor food and lack of space
\nThe animals fighting with each other
\nThere really is no grace
\nTangled up in tethers
\nIn places far too small
\nWith a terrible lack of exercise
\nThey just go up the wall<\/p>\n
The circus is passed its sell by date
\nFamily business or not
\nIts really very cruel out there
\nThe animals they have got
\nCannot rest and cannot run
\nThey are prisoners in fear
\nAnd the government ought to sack the three MP’s
\nWho vote to keep the animals here<\/p>\n
It comes back to tradition
\nBut there is no place today
\nClearly there is much suffering
\nAll along the way
\nIts really an absurdity
\nTo expect them to perform
\nWhen you are stressed and hungry
\nOr when you get too warm<\/p>\n
In England oft its raining
\nWindy and its cold
\nAnd travelling around the country
\nIn wagons now that hold
\nAnimals all standing
\nCajoled from place to place
\nPassengers in moving trucks
\nAt a sickening pace<\/p>\n
Circus needs to be closed down
\nThe big top shouldn’t be
\nWith animals no none at all
\nNo one needs to see
\nDancing prancing carrying ladies
\nThe psyche of the show
\nIs over it has reached the end
\nSo few folk want to go<\/p>\n
Its irrelevant and meaningless
\nThe drama of it all
\nIts not as if we have no choice
\nThere is so much on call
\nAnimals have hearts and minds
\nAnd a business has to be
\nProfitable and who must pay
\nIf its not,the animals are key<\/p>\n
And all the time the show goes on
\nMoving from town to town
\nIts stressful for the travelling men and women
\nAll get down
\nIn inclement conditions
\nTents and trailers they
\nJust are not conducive
\nTo the order of the day<\/p>\n
The three MP’s now blocking
\nThe bid to set them free
\nTake animals out of circus
\nAllow them to be free
\nOut in a field where they belong
\nNot working day and night
\nWith insufficient exercise
\nAnd so close that they fight<\/p>\n
There really is no purpose
\nIts unrewarding to
\nThe animals whose stress and strain
\nHow can their health stay true
\nIts an unnatural environment
\nIts mediocrity
\nIts oppressive to the animals
